Any suggestions on how to start building my own web site.

Lots of suggestions - don't :hihi:

What kind of site? and what do you want to get out of it?

Most sites in a box or a can, suck and do little good. High end sites can often be expensive, especially if you outsource the E-commerce... Really depends on what you want to do (feel free to PM)...

If you really want to learn, get a book and a copy of macromedia studio MX and make a site. Remember that it will take some time, if you want to learn in 5 minutes, get MS frontpage. Macromedia is the way to go if you want your page to stand out, or if you relly want to know HOW a page is built. Frontpage is too autimated and the code is messy. I learned on a demo of Dreamweaver (legit program is $1,000) and a book I picked up ar Borders.

Got a copy of Front Page. Still looks like a language I am not aware of. John had some great suggestions, but yes eventually, I'ld like to learn. If anything to satisfy curiosity and have control over the site.
