There was a tutorial on this somewhere on SOL. Not sure if it's cool to post the link. Karl F 01-18-2006, 10:25 AM http://www.stripersonline.com/cgi-bin/ubb_547C/ultimatebb.cgi/topic/1/22468.html? Pikie "101" :kewl: jnski 01-18-2006, 10:31 AM yesserie. that'd be the one. Guess it is ok to post dem links! Karl F 01-18-2006, 10:42 AM ya can do it "here", :kewl: but ya can't do it "there" Krispy 01-18-2006, 11:39 AM 8" drum on the drill press is absolutely 100% the easiest and fastest way to do the pikie slope. It is also the exact curve of the original Striper Pikie slope. steelhead 01-18-2006, 11:42 AM I did my first pikie last night. Used one of those drum shaped sanding thingies you put in your drill. Worked just fine. Probably a bit slow compared to a belt sander... Pete F. 01-18-2006, 12:27 PM You can rough cut it first straight on the bandsaw, if you are using a drum that will save sandpaper. I do them on the wheel on my stroke sander. Slipknot 01-18-2006, 12:44 PM ya can do it "here", :kewl: but ya can't do it "there" Actually John doesn't want us to since they don't allow it over there, but we get away with it here in the plug forum :) I do mine with a 4x24 belt sander but you could use a drum sander on the drill press also. Nebe 01-18-2006, 12:51 PM Thank you thank you thank you !!! i was going to ask which was better- the drum or the belt sander.. I have the sander and i dont have a drum, so i'll give that a shot. I think krispy is right that the drum would be easier as you can keep the blank 9o° to the drum just by laying it on the drill press table. I will post pics sooooooon :lasso: Karl F 01-18-2006, 01:24 PM OOOps sorry John... Slip, that pikie one of BM's tho... any way of sneaking that thread in to the "How to Plug building forum" ??? It's a good one for shore.... Or maybe you could drag him out of retirement..er.. in a month or two, when there is more sunshine, ( BM) to do one for here  Charleston 01-18-2006, 01:32 PM Take a close look at the sanding drums that go between centers on your lathe...:uhuh: vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
