Last season I managed to destroy about 6 or 7 tines on my eel rake. I bought the new tines but have no idea how to replace them. Can anyone tell me the proper way to do this?

Are you talking sand eel rake? If you are you need to drill out what is left over in the head of the rake from the broken ones and then weld in the new ones. That is the only way I can think of. 20' is too wide you won't be able to pull that thing fast enough. as for repairs. do not just weld them in . i reccomend have them soldered in . or brass weld. you tig them in it's a B%%^$ to repair. :fishslap:

There is a grouchy ol bastage in Chatham that usta have a nice little side business makin sand eel rakes,, meybe he still does :huh:... anyway, I know even old second hand ones of his, are quite popular... maybe, if he has a non grumpy moment. he'll chine, er, chime in here... :hihi:

bait shack in Orleans, a(nd I've seen 'em in other B&Ts).. had the chines right on the counter last summer, few cents a piece... you could drill out the broken ones, and just take it to a welder, or a machinist, and giterdun.

Step 1: Throw the old one away.

Step 2: Buy a new one.:hihi:

I agree 20' would be too wide but 20" pulled by a boat will work out fine.:hihi:

yep! made a few hundred rakes from time to time, all the way up to 36" wide....with 1" gas pipe,,,leaded the tines in, acidcore...adv. rake 22 tines per..6' wood handle or for the weekender 5' metal. ice pick tines,500 per box....got 6 tines left and u can't haveum.
