They are teak so at first we thought the Philippines buy the guy said no. So I assume it's China:eek: He would not give me a straight answer. They have nose, belly and tail grommets stainless thru wire & VMC hooks. Look to be Krok swivels?? This guy does not have a clue he is just the importer.

You can see the industrial revolution beginning. In a few years what will be left here.

unfrortunately I think your right. Only the niche markets will be left for American made products. Sadly I say this though.

They look good. It is scarey how cheap they can make stuff with fairly good quality. Granted they don't have the laws and regulations we have to abide to here. Any type of manufacturer in this country has to be a little worried that what they are producing can be done somewhere over the rainbow much cheaper. We still have them with quality but that gap will eventually shrink too once they find out exactly what we want.:(

looks like a nice plug for the money. cheaper than the ones the local guys sell around here. finally some competition in the market price wise. maybe the local guys will get wind of this and not charge$20+ for a plug.:hs:

Skip, the people who make those plugs probably get paid about a dollar a day. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy them, or Mike shouldn't sell them...but it's not like the local builders are making that much of a margin...

Don't get me wrong they are some fantastic plugs. Habs, Tattoo etc are great plugs. But i find it tough for me personaly to pay $20 for one plug. For me a cheaper alternative is better. So for me this new cheaper line of plugs is worth looking into. Then again, i dont really need anymore plugs!

If they make a dollar a day why are they still in business? Not being a wise ass but just asking a question.

I went to the springfield fishing show where there was a perselling imported lures for the surf (needles, dannies, poppers, darters) for 3$ each. I tested the lures that I bought and they all swam great (except for one danny) and caught tons of blue fish.

I think Gibbs is the company most likely to take a major hit from a cheaper alternative wooden plug.

.

Because they are working in the far east for pennies an hour...
not the company making $1/day....

they say fish what you trust and I trust local plugs I'll pay more for something I don't have to have any dubts about it.Plus I rather keep my money here.

I'm surprised that they made a darter and jointed eel first - those are two tough plugs....

I agree, a Darter is a bold move. That thing looks like a cross of a Tattoo and a Beachmaster. Then again there's only so many ways to make a Darter.
