View Full Version : best glue for screw eyes? thefishingfreak 02-01-2006, 07:39 PM ? UserRemoved1 02-01-2006, 07:43 PM freek any expanding waterproof polyurethane glue will work fine. thefishingfreak 02-01-2006, 07:51 PM gorilla glue? i gotta screw them in after paint and cant babysit two dozen if they start to make a mess Jigman 02-01-2006, 07:56 PM Devcon, 2 ton, 30 minute epoxy. Mix it up, place in the hole, screw the screw eye in place. If some spills over, just even it out around the screw eye as it will help to hold it in place. Jigman thefishingfreak 02-01-2006, 08:03 PM okey dokey thanks. how you gettin it in that little hole? Nebe 02-01-2006, 08:08 PM screw eyes are for sissies :skulz: UserRemoved1 02-01-2006, 08:11 PM Inject some glue into the hole with the nozzle freak then put the eye in, I've not ever had one leak in all the screw eye plugs I have done. Dry in 24 hours and I think stronger than epoxy. I've seen epoxy not bond and I've not once seen that with the polyurethanes. Use what you think will work for you I guess. thefishingfreak 02-01-2006, 08:16 PM bad nebe. no woodchopper for you. i wanted to do thru wire but wtf? prop on the back.i just can't figgure it out? http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripertalk/attachment.php?attachmentid=13115&d=1134784193 thru wore isn't stiff enough. one good bend and the prop is useless. Nebe 02-01-2006, 08:25 PM wow. we are both working on the same plug :usd: have you thought of doing a belly hook like a "J" plug??? thats what i was going to do when i got around to it. thefishingfreak 02-01-2006, 08:32 PM :hee: thefishingfreak 02-01-2006, 08:36 PM what nozzle scott? what glue? huh? thefishingfreak 02-01-2006, 08:38 PM ya "j". wire ends at the rear hook. screw eye in the back? Jigman 02-01-2006, 10:14 PM When I'm using screw eyes, I usually do a pilot hole with a bit that is smaller than the screw eye. After that, I hit the same hole about 1/4 inch deep with a bit that is twice the size of the screw eye. Will make the bond stronger. Also makes getting the epoxy in the hole easier, and they are not coming out that way. Mix up the epoxy and use a section of wire to put it in the hole. If you did not do the larger hole, you can mix up the epoxy and smear it around the tip of the screw eye and part way up the shank. Jigman Nebe 02-01-2006, 10:25 PM the split ring is a perfect solution :kewl: the bloofish are going to love it :humpty: thefishingfreak 02-01-2006, 11:42 PM jesus now i need a machinist. ROCKFISH 02-02-2006, 08:34 AM I make prop plugs with 2" magnum screw eyes back and front. Drill hole just a little smaller than screw, no glue at all. Very strong in maple needles. Can be adjusted by turning with pliers. 2" screw is long enough to catch belly swivel as well. ThrowingTimber 02-02-2006, 12:32 PM RockFish BUDDY! Whenever you want to setup a trade let me know! I NEED that needle!!!! ROCKFISH 02-02-2006, 05:57 PM That particular needle has no belly weight and it spins on a fast retrieve. Works ok on a very slow retrieve, which is the way I use it. Tried trolling with it once in Fla., wasn't paying attention, talk about twisted mono. Not one of my best, but if you want to trade I could make some more. striperman36 02-02-2006, 06:03 PM Freak, where did you get those blades? thefishingfreak 02-02-2006, 06:06 PM thats sweet, good idea with the screw to hold the swivel. thefishingfreak 02-02-2006, 06:09 PM stamina tackle. they call them chopper props. FlukinUki 02-02-2006, 09:20 PM Those woodchoppers are really cool. I looked at stamina and the chopper blades I saw listed didnt look like the ones in your pics? Can someone post a link to the page please? thefishingfreak 02-02-2006, 09:27 PM http://www.staminainc.com/plug_hardware/chopper_props.html steelhead 02-02-2006, 10:00 PM Use a short fat one like that for fresh water bass in the Adirondack Mountains.
