Way too hot for braid unless properly magged, IMO. Enjoy it though, its a sweet reel. fishaholic18 02-03-2006, 09:17 PM Sweet Eb, good luck with that. Selling your VS??? Nebe 02-03-2006, 09:26 PM im going ot mag it. F-18.. my VS is my backup reel :hihi: MAC 02-03-2006, 09:36 PM Wait till you use that the first time. Ain't nothing like an ABU or calcutta:rotf2: I tried one last summer and it made my P-220 seem slow. Nebe 02-03-2006, 09:45 PM I know mac, the spool can spin for 2 minutes. As for magging it, i read 2 of the 1/4" lee valley magnets will get it to do what i want. What a reel though. It makes my 6500's look and feel like cheap toys. (except for my chrome rocket) MAC 02-03-2006, 10:09 PM Wait till you look inside. The drag surface is huge. UserRemoved1 02-04-2006, 06:41 PM Nebe Christian 02-04-2006, 06:41 PM you using that for surf or bluefin cool reel Nebe 02-04-2006, 07:11 PM ya think it will make it across the canal? absolutely but not in my hands :rotf3: Nebe 02-04-2006, 07:13 PM you using that for surf or bluefin cool reel surf. i was going to get a calcutta, but this reel is the same size same weight, and is diesel..no level wind, but thats one less thing to go wrong. oh 650 yards of 50 lb braid :smokin: MakoMike 02-06-2006, 07:33 AM Eben, Couldn't resist a stroll down the street this weekend, huh? :rude: Mr. Sandman 02-06-2006, 08:16 AM I have used it now for a few seasons...but mostly as a bottom fishing reel from a boat. When I first got it I slapped it on a conv surf rod and made a few casts. The bearings are great in that thing, they spin forever. But I bought it as a fluking reel. After using it for a 2 full seasons I can say they are rugged, smooth and have a very good lever drag (and the price is right) but they are not the most ergonomic reels. The handle feels great but it needs to be at an angle or something because you have to bend your wrist too much (IMO) to reel. It is a solid reel but I relegated it as a backup reel this season and relaced it with a shimano, it just feels better when I reel not as much wirst ache. It was more of a personal thing of feel then anything else. I got this reel because i do a lot of rock hopping and everyonce in a while I take a digger and land on my pole...sometimes reel facing the rock. I need something that can take a pounding and not break. from the looks of this reel you could do a lot of harsh things to it and it will be OK. I wont use this reel everytime i go out, but at certian places and at certian times, it will be used heavily. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
