Over the years the company I work for has had a booth at the HOME SHOW at Bayside Expo Center. Part of my job is to go to the shows and answer questions regarding my company and products. (SAME PLACE THE BOAT SHOW IS)I have inside knoledge of a place where you can park near the convention center- and it is free. Thats right FREE. For a small fee of either 1. custom plugs, 2. money, ect...I will disclose the free SECRET SPOT. Now this might be considered SPOT BURNING. After I post this, I will check with JOHN R and make sure its ok.

No I'm not all right. But thats a different story. :hee: Drive past the state police berricks like your going to castle island. But take a right way before.....drive past the back entrance to the show and 1000 feet up there is a turnoff for beach parking. Two minute walk. There is a entrance in the back of the expo you can enter. I think Carolina Clasic's booth was there last year. :faga:

I'll be there at the opening bell this Saturday with my twin 9 year old boys. We haven't gone since 2003 and after 2 seasons with the new boat we're itching to look at more new rigs (which I can't afford ;) ).

$400K and that Grady is all yours.

I was there yesterday and ghost town is right, that's the best.

I'll never understand how salesmen don't know their boat and motor prices off the top of their head, or readily available (expecially the the boats/motors they brought to the show).

I wish each engine maker sent a rep to the show with their own booth, asking each suzuki dealer to explain "continuously variable valve timing" (the difference between the 150 and 175hp) and you get different answers. Then they say, buy now because they're selling like hot cakes from the Miami show.

All in all it was a good show, if money was no object, I'd get one of those retro looking chris crafts for cruising.

They know exactly what the motor will cost them..... They will not tell you how much it cost you because that figure changes by the minute. It all depends how much you want it and are willing to pay. A good salesmans will try to get as much as he can and still keep you smiling.

Van
02-23-2006, 09:17 AM
Damn right they know.

I noticed last year they underpowered many boats on display to keep the price down. I'll bet when you actually go to buy it, they tell ya, you really should consider upping the HP for better performance.

I saw a 23' CC with a 150 on it, salesman said it will do 40 mph with that power. I asked what the boat was rated for. He said he didn't know. YA RIGHT !!! Check the plate...Oh its rated for 250 !!!

Should really fly with 150 pushing her...........NOT...........!

Gotta say the GW 360 is one awesome machine. To my group there last night, it was in a class by itself. Out of my league but a sweet boat.

To me, a center console guy (and current GW owner), the best of show was the GW 306. The Reg 26 was also nice and big surprise to me me was the Sailfish 23 (9'beam) and Everglades 26 -- I would rank it second.

Big disappointment to me was the Southport that was just OK but nothing special.

I was intrigued with the Drummond Island from Pursuit and the 32' cuddy from Whaler. Different layouts that I found interesting.

All in all a good show.

The new 24' center console from Everglades was my favorite.

$99K with twin Honda 150s.

Maybe one of those meat packers from Nebraska will loan me the money since I didn't win the lottery!

Sure was, WHAT A MACHINE !!!! I almost bought it, but I was just shy on funds, about 490K shy !!!!!!!
But it was definately the sweetest boat I saw there.
To dream is nice. Whaler as always had some nice rides too.
Fountains are incredible, but thats not my style....

I also noticed lots of manufacturers are teaming up with merc...

Well,

Spent a few hours there this afternoon. Parked at Carson beach for zip, thanks QD.

One of the things that caught my eye was the 26 Albin. Me being a straight inboard guy. But 93 to 115 depending on engine......will have to hit that megamillions.

I could never be a salesman....some of the stuff they say. Like when I ask a repower guy how much more fuel efficent a Crusader 350 MPI is compared to the 260HP carberated Mercruiser mid 90's engine I have now he says 30-40% better............my arse, I may buy 10-15%...

Did a turbo tour on Saturday. I was impressed by the Hydrasports 29 footer. Unfortunately it's way too big to trailer. Lot's of nice boats to see. Took home tons of brochures to look through.

Verado's everywhere!

I agree with Beamie, the 26 Albin center console with a diesel would be my boat if I could do it. But for 100K +, I don't think so....

But, my wife really liked the Parker and I can't say that was a bad choice too, it would be nice to be warm and dry! She hates our SeaCraft because there is no place to hide from the elements.

Great show, had fun.
