Hi,

I bought a new Dell XPS 200 and don`t know how to set up my outlook email? I called Dell and they said I would have to pay for software assistance...aarrggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Anyone have any ideas? Its 2003 Small Business Ed. with outlook.
It opens but cannot send or receive email. How do I create my address and send mail.

As you can tell I`m a old moron who doesn`t know hardly anything about computers.

Thanks for any help,
Mike

unless they've been asked and answered over and over, questions are good.
For anything computer related, I suggest making good friends with the website www.google.com . It knows just about everything. I took your question and searched on "how to set up outlook" and came up with this site -

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/using/howto/oe/setup.mspx

It looks pretty straight forward. Give it a shot, if you've got more questions blast em out.

no problem, that site google is by no means limited to computer stuff either, do a search on your name indanite , it'll bring you right back here.

never call yourself |or type yourself as a moron| because you just re-inforce that idea in your head each time.....better to say
every day i learn a little more about computers...
or i learn more about
computers each and every day.... say it often....soon you'll believe it... everything you need to know is in your computers help files
generally... use them often... your internet service provider
has to tell you what your email servers are called for free...

to set up outlook you open it...try tools button up top
this is the general process...
and look for options
or better yet...accounts ( management...)
you'll type in then your incoming mail servers
are always USUALLY pop.your_isp.net or .com
smtp.your_isp.net or com

or usually >>>>>> incoming.your_isp.com
outgoing.your_isp.com or .net
so you set it up like that...
call your isp up to set up your chosen email addy with them
and ask about the email server names....(they have to be exact)
you have to put in your name and email address in the begining
then hit properties on that name...In ACCOUNTS
to get to the server input area... then it should work
