one of my customers i had today is selling his tools :as: , as he is going into assisted living for older people, anyway, he has a benchmount drill press, not sure of the year, but it looks in very good shape. its 1/6 hp, 3 speed from 700 - 3000 max rpm, and he's throwing in about 30 miscellaneous bits. the drill press itself is about 2 feet high, base to top. do you guys think this is a decent deal? i see the 10" craftsman d.p. new for $100, but not sure if that is sufficient for plug building. i'm also not sure if 1/6 is strong enough, they all seem to be made at least 2/3 hp these days. thanks in advance for any help.

Frank....sounds like a good deal to me! Bits and all? If it is something you need then jump on it! Yeah, you can get a comparable new drill press for about $100.00 but it probably will not come with the bits! Like I said, if you think it is a fair value to you....grab it and good luck!:btu:

Might not be good for heavy drilling but you might be able to set it up for eyes and such...sounds worth the $75.00 investment!

thanks , so if the 1/6 hp doesnt sound too weak for any aspect of plug building i'm gonna pick it up. i forgot to mention that it comes with a vise as well :hee:
