View Full Version : Is It Just Me???
BigFish 02-22-2006, 08:01 AM Or does anyone else think Olympic speed skater Shani Davis is an isolationist and a biggot??
Hey....I call them as I see them!
The guy should just start his own country (somewhere far away) move there and then he does not have to worry about the rest of the US Team!
Jimbo 02-22-2006, 10:50 AM I don't know what you call him, but it doesn't seem like he's there for the team. First he backed out on joining the team for the opening ceremonies, then he backed out on a relay event because he's only there for himself. Then that comment last night about not getting a hug from Chad Hedrick after he won his race. I don't know what's up with this guy. There's a couple others with attitude issues, too.
Who knows, this stuff may go on all the time and maybe the media is making a point of promoting the controversy because that's what some people thrive on these days. Look at the shows like Idol, or Apprentice and highlighting personality conflicts are a major part of the show. Whatever it is, it's making the US look like a bunch of childish putzes and probably why we're behind in the medal count.
The Dad Fisherman 02-22-2006, 10:55 AM Did you hear the latest on Bode Miller....His father is saying that the reason he isn't winning medals is because his Skis are defective.. c'mon now. Just admit he's getting beat by better skiers and move on.....don't blame the equipment.
Raven 02-22-2006, 11:20 AM don't tell me you watch jerry Springer too...
Jimbo 02-22-2006, 11:51 AM How about the skater Weir who lost out on a medal and then said he was distraught because they changed the schedule where he was and instead of running every 10 minutes they ran every 30, but he was still at the rink way ahead of when he had to skate.
Don't get me wrong, there's some of our athletes showing an amazing amount of heart in the face of adversity and that's what's keeping me watching. Like the female skiier who fell and was taken to the hospital with a concussion and severely bruised hip, and the next day still managed to ski all her races.
Mike P 02-22-2006, 12:11 PM A distraught male figure skater? How unusual :D :rotf2:
I am glad they brought #^&#^&#^&#^& Button back--maybe it's me, but Scotty Hamilton sounds like he's about to have an orgasm every time someone lands a jump.
Yo, Scotty--it's the friggen Olympics--they should be landing those jumps
Jimbo 02-22-2006, 12:31 PM Not much of a skate fan here, but when the wife says I watch, I watch. Last night I was noticing how our announcers ripped 9 out of 10 non-US skaters apart during their performance. Maybe that's their job. I couldn't see any of what they were saying were flaws, the chick announcer was calling things then taking back what she said on the replay, and when the judges rated them high, absolute silence from our announcers. Maybe I just never paid close attention before, but it just seems like a lot of people's behavior has changed at these events. And stop knocking curling, it's the only sport I can relate to because, versus luge or giant downhill, I could actually picture myself doing it.
BigFish 02-22-2006, 12:33 PM Anybody see Sasha Cohen last night!:kewl: She was fantastic and flawless......she had to wait to skate last, like that was not adversity but she sucked it up and skated just beautifully!

I think she's a Canadian
