What's your preference when it comes to snaps?
Duolok seem to provide better action.
Crosslocks, by design, are less apt to fail.
Breakaways seem bulkier and more apt to come off.

coastlocks are my favorite.

Coastlocks(crosslock)for me.

After losing a few good fish to snaps, it's been nothing but knots for me for years.

I didn't know they were brand names I always thought they were a generic name for a style.I guess its a good thing I've always bought the
Rosco snaps.

i'm going to try the 60 lb breakaways this year. some north shore friends of mine fished em last year. they seemed great.

breakaways......... but i have some gemini clips i,ll be trying this year.

I only use a albright/uniknot only never trusted snaps. an old timer told
me a long time ago to tie direct and He has 7 50's to his name so I trust
his advice.

snaps are for canvass. knots are for fish.

some guys swear bye added attraction of snaps like they swear bye tailwraps but for me it's knot or nuthing.

I use the breakaway clips - work great and easy to change plugs in the dark!:rolleyes: :sleeps:

I make my own and have for the last 5 years after a bunch of coastloks kept openning. I had one of mine open once but I landed the fish anyway because my wire is stronger than the commercial brands. I make them in 3 sizes and they reallyaren't that hard to do once you get the hang of it.

Check out the no-slip mono loop too. 90% or more breaking strength. The Homer Rhode is a good knot but it tests out at about 50% of your line strength with lighter leader material. It works great with heavy leader material or wire, but be careful when you start getting under 30# test.

pete,, i'm using least 30-50#fluro,, homer-rhode works for me the main line will bust first.
10-15#?? , i double surgen knot 'bout 2 1/2 feet so now i got two lines running to the plug, and sinch knot it.
i'd be interested in your knot though, another one to practice,,

It's what I use to attach to just about everything these days if I'm not using a snap and need a loop. The loop itself instead of the knot breaks if I'm lazy enough to not retie all day. For real heavy leader (80+) I go to an improved clinch or a Homer Rhode.
