At last week's meeting the Fluke management boards approved addendum XVIII, which will give some relief in the proposed cutbacks to MA, CT and NY. The action will have effect on RI. In further action the "The Board approved Rhode Island fishermen, Michael C. Plaia and Bruce Bannick to the Summer
Flounder Advisory Panel and Edward F. Baker and Ken Court to the Scup and Black Sea Bass Advisory
Panel."

massachusetts has on their upcoming public hearing adgenda to raise the minimum length for fluke from 17" to 17 1/2". also, they have proposed a scup fishery in september. im not sure if this means some time will be taken away during the summer, but i do know that there were a lot of pissed off people during the fall b/c the state closed the rec. scup season and at the same time was increasing the trip limits for comms.

As far as scup go, there will be a lot of pissed of people no matter what the state does. The ASMFC requires a 4 month season starting with wave 1 (May 1) or wave 2 (july 1) so if they want a fall season they are going to have to do away with the spring season.
