I currently had 10ft.Lamiglass cut down 6in. for fishing the Canal. It's great for chuncking, livelining herring, and I also jig with it.I'm now looking for ideas on building a rod for strickly plugging. I also own an Abu 7000 that would go nicely. What's popular? What length should I get? I take it graphite is the way to go ? :)

H2O - welcome to S-B... What, where, & how... what do you want to cast for plugs? Wieght range? Distance? Just for the Ditch?

The cream of the crop seem to be the XRA Lamis/ All Star/Breakaways, and some Loomis blanks that are getting tougher and tougher to get...

seems like most of the guys looking for distance are going with the XRA 1322 -11' ,1pc rod they are throwing 3-5oz and jigging.
If you are a shorter guy take a look at the XRA 1205 -10' or the All Star 1208 / 1209

don't forget the XRA 1204. Nice light stick for casting plugs all day and night.

I have a 1205 with an Abu BG7000cl I use for the canal
