View Full Version : okay now i'm ticked.. Katie 03-15-2006, 09:22 AM :bsod: cause of this stupid kid, i can't be in school.... what the heck! :splat: :splat: Slipknot 03-15-2006, 09:32 AM  did they give you a specific reason? school boards make some whacko decisions these days, I don't get it. try not to let it get to you Katie, stay positive and hopefully all will work out for you. Flaptail 03-15-2006, 09:55 AM Katie, an unfortunate precedent in schools today is that the "special needs" child gets the lion's Share of attention, help and counseling. Special Needs can mean many things like ADD, behavior, autism, emotional and physically challenged. I and my wife arer both employed by school districts. She in Kindergarten, where the horror stories get worse each year and I as an administrator who deals with all levels of educational facilities. School systems are so afraid of negative publicity, frivolous lawsuits by parents whose child they never disciplined and they believe the schools should and when they do the schools get harpooned because most of these kids parents are lowlifes. Now autism and physical or mental challenges are legitimate behavioral and developmental problems, the discipline and ADD stuff for the most part could have been prevented by more parental involvement. ADD has some factual foundation in chemical imbalance but some are just plain neglect from parents who cannot be bothered or, as usuallly is the case, are so far out themselves and their views on family structure, discipline and values so skwewed it's not funny. Your boy obviously comes from a less than ideal environment. Unfortuantely they cannot touch him unless he actually physically acts out. Threats, taunts etc may get him a day or two off but until he acts out he is protected by law as a minor. Your rights and it is a right, to go to school, feel safe while there and be productive and learn as always, will be second to his. Sad but true. They are protecting you by keeping you out of school but they are also protecting him and they know he is a scumbag but the laws of the State have him covered. Being that he is young and stupid and more than likely to act out, your being home is probably the best place. Sorry kid, I know it stinks but that's the way it is. BigFish 03-15-2006, 09:58 AM Life is like that too Flap....not just school. Katie...hang in there.....be a good person and you will wind up on top! Katie 03-15-2006, 11:29 AM yeah, i'll try.. we gotta get a lawyer and everything... they wouldn't tell us anything at all, nothing,zip,zero,nadda..they might have me home the whole week, but this is gonna suck so much, cause my grades are gonna fall.. and omg this sucks..lol yeah i'll try and stay positive, but, its not likely.. The Dad Fisherman 03-15-2006, 12:03 PM I'm confused....why are they makig YOU stay home from school.....you didn't do anything wrong Nebe 03-15-2006, 12:44 PM Katie- if anything, learn from this experiience. Be the better person when someone harrases you and simply walk away and ignore them. Walking away will probably infuriate (sp?) them for a little bitm then they will call out or push you harder, but in the long run, they will learn that they will get no reaction from you. In the heat of the moment, it is easy to throw insults back at the person, but all you are doing is giving them what they want- 'attention'. My dad told me this a long long time ago and i still can hear him saying it ... "keep your head down, your chin up and your nose clean..and you'll be allright" Luckily i never got into any fights, never got suspended, etc.. and i owe it all to self control. (now if only i could control my obsessive compulsive fishing disorder :hihi: ) Katie 03-15-2006, 12:52 PM I'm confused....why are they makig YOU stay home from school.....you didn't do anything wrong thats what we're trying to figure out... Slipknot 03-15-2006, 12:58 PM so? can't you just go to school anyway? what can they do? suspend you for trying to get your education?:smash: Katie 03-15-2006, 01:05 PM so? can't you just go to school anyway? what can they do? suspend you for trying to get your education?:smash: they'll keep calling home, to send me home... vp just called us and she didn't tell us sh-t.. and i'm not exactly scared, but my mom is losing it, while my dad's just sayin deck him.. where about 2 months ago, he was all dressed up in his gang colors and he went to durfee high (fall river) and assaulted a kid, got arrested.. now, he's gonna be in school tomorrow.. because his parents have these top class lawyers, that are protecting him, and messing with my grades.. if i stay back, or fail a class, i will not be a happy camper...:splat: Karl F 03-15-2006, 01:09 PM If you are not suspended, or expelled, they are bound by state law to provide you with an education, are they sending your work to you?, providing tutors?, internet, and email access to teachers?... Have Mom and Dad get their own Lawyer involved if needed, sounds like it's time for that. Katie 03-15-2006, 01:16 PM If you are not suspended, or expelled, they are bound by state law to provide you with an education, are they sending your work to you?, providing tutors?, internet, and email access to teachers?... Have Mom and Dad get their own Lawyer involved if needed, sounds like it's time for that. i was offered a few days out of school, and she'll get my work for me.. but, how am i gonna know what do to? how am i going to retake the quizzes/tests i miss, when i'm unable to stay after school cause i don't have a ride... they aren't providing tutors, only one of my teachers i can contact online.. and for the lawyer part... we can't get one because we can't afford one.. so i'm thinking in this situation, i'm rather screwed.. we're trying to figure out, why this kid was suspended, but he's back in school.. now this pretty much means to him, he can do anything and get away with it... now we all know that if i went after someone with a pair of plyers, i'd be expelled and in court... now what the hell is the problem here??? IT'S NOT FAIR.. Slipknot 03-15-2006, 01:23 PM start by contacting your state senator and congressman and keep going from there and rattle some cages with some creative letter writing. Lay it all out for them and ask for answers. Criminals should not have more rights than us, just because they can afford a fancy lawyer:hs: If they don't do anything, contact the news. I don't blame you for being ticked off but maybe use that energy to call some attention to this situation. whiplash 03-15-2006, 04:11 PM Slip is right ,call your state reps and senators, state board of ED then call the papers ,Fall River ,New Bedford and the Globe and tell the politicians that your calling the papers. Chin up kid your not in the wrong. BigFish 03-15-2006, 04:17 PM Call channel 7's "Help Me Hank"....sounds like its right up her alley! Mike P 03-15-2006, 06:58 PM Start with the superintendent's office. They probably aren't aware of what's going on at the school level. Demand an explanation from them why the victim has to stay home while the bad guy gets to go to class. Maybe as a result of that your principal might get called for an explanation of why you're the one being penalized. Get a copy of the police report you made---I'd be shocked if you're not entitled to it by law. Have your parents tell the Superintendent, in no uncertain terms, that if you're not back in school by Friday at the latest, their next call is going to be to your state Rep and Senator, then maybe to a local investigative reporter from the Standard-Times. Maybe then, the Providence and Boston TV stations. Backbeach Jake 03-15-2006, 08:07 PM I was waiting to hear from you Mike P.:kewl: Katie 03-16-2006, 12:19 PM okay, well, today i got to stay in school, the kid has an escort, but besides that i have no idea whats gonna happen.. got called into the principals office this morning, i wasn't introuble but they asked if he bothered me and made me feel uncomfortable.. well i said, that he did, i'm not going to lie. so they moved him to the room across from where i am in internship last block, the class he was in with me.. and i have no idea how he got in there, he doesn't do anything in that class, just sits, plays games, listens to rap, talks about drugs and the gang.. while me and the other kids actually do work and stuff.. but things are starting to turn around and work out for me.. Karl F 03-16-2006, 12:24 PM That is some good news Katie :D They need to realize, that you are the priority, not him. Hope all continues your way. Swimmer 03-16-2006, 12:32 PM Sounds like your handling it well. Keep your chin up. Katie 03-16-2006, 12:34 PM Oh and may i add... came to school, told mom i felt fine, i felt like sh-t and had like a 100 degree temp... fun... i was offered a whole month off if i was that scared, and it would all be excused, i said wow thanks, but i might only take a few days off.. Skip N 03-16-2006, 12:58 PM Its pricks like him that should be expelled from school ASAP. Kids like that are useless and have no buisness being in class with good kids like Katie who want to learn. I wish schools had more balls and would just get rid of the trash somehow. It drives me nuts. But your handling this well Katie, keep it up!:kewl: The Iceman 6 03-16-2006, 01:38 PM Skip N tells it like it is! Katie, great job hanging in there, keep you chin up and always remember u did nothing wrong.... Skip N 03-16-2006, 02:06 PM Yeah she's doing everything right. Its up to the school to handle this kid. Just keep getting on the schools ass and force them to do thier job. One day that little punk will pick on the wrong dude and end up missing a few teeth. Once a punk always a punk. He'll get whats coming to him someday, thugs always do. chris L 03-16-2006, 03:18 PM he needs to be in juvenile jail NOW . this kid is nothing but trouble and he is only going to get worse as he gets older . some one also needs to kick his parents in the head and they also should be jailed . a kid this screwed up has his parents to partially blame . Katie in their screwed up wisdom : by keeping you home your safe and they dont have to deal with him . Which they should do forthwith . Its much easier to ask you to stay home . They have no guts and are hoping it will go away on its own . It wont ! he wont stop till he hurts someone or worse . afraid ? you should be until he is taken care of properly . fear keeps you on your toes and watch your back . Have your parents get a hold ( your not 18 ) of the Superintendant of education anyway and get a copy of the police report . Katie 03-16-2006, 09:28 PM Yeah she's doing everything right. Its up to the school to handle this kid. Just keep getting on the schools ass and force them to do thier job. One day that little punk will pick on the wrong dude and end up missing a few teeth. Once a punk always a punk. He'll get whats coming to him someday, thugs always do. yup, mom's gonna do that after she goes thru the system without any results... fishaholic18 03-16-2006, 11:55 PM yup, mom's gonna do that after she goes thru the system without any results... There ya go.:kewl: Have Mom embarrass the crap out of the punk in front of his friends. I wish I was under 18...:whackin: :wall: Hang in there Katie and don't let anyone walk on you kiddo. Katie 03-17-2006, 05:19 PM thanks guys, stayed home today... cause i dunno how bout i had a temp of like 102 or so.. and even typeing this it's all blurry, but i'll keep you guys updated... and yesterday we did call the state rep mike rodriques (spell?) and i went to preschool with his daughter, and so our family and his go rather back, so, we'll see where this goes.. also called the super of schools, she had the special ed guy call for her.. yes turns out, this kid falls under the special ed code... tsk tsk.. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
