WHy do the herring at the mass runs seem to arrive first?? Isnt the water around rhody/conn warmer?

Some runs, and I think it's a genetic thing perhaps sem to go before the others. Wareham runs early, Coonamessett in Flamouth runs late. Same species of fish, just something inherently genetic that's imprinted in the behavior. Saw Daffodils on Rt. 6a this morning while heading down cape to scout beaches at low tide. It was 31 degrees and a frosting of snow was on the ground. When I got to Truro it was spiiting snow then we had snow fluuries. Go figure.

Middleboro run had herring a week ago,spoke with a couple of men on the committee and they seem to think early indications look good.Where the herring run, so do the seals.
