I have had the flu for 5 days now... Nothing, i mean nothing i have experienced in life has been as painful as this. My right eye feels like someone took a grapefruit spoon and tried to remove my eye. My right nostril is pumping out flourescent green and bloody snot, My head feels like somone hit me with an 8 oz. bank sinker.. I havent worked since last thursday, as Mrs Eben got this before me and i had to stay home with and take care of her and my little one... Plus, i had to lay off the guys that help me until i feel better..

man...this sucks :scream2:

if you have a headache in your sinuses or say behind your eyes...
then that usually indicates a sinus infection and it's been my experience that antibiotics is the only way to kill it....

on the other hand everyone thinks to ask for anti biotics when going to the doctors as if its a magic cure all...when its really a last resort.

but @ my latest visit to the doctors...there was a big sign saying :no anti biotics for a cold will be given... and i got yelled at for confessing i took some penicillen after getting bitten by a tick...

The Doctor said: America is at risk for the bird flu if we take anti biotics all the time because then the "bug" simply changes into a form that is resistant to anti-biotics altogether.

Eben get better soon, I was sick two weeks and finally broke down and got the antibiotics at Christmas. Better in a few days.

Raven, good point. Unfortunately medical use is only a small part of what meds get used for . Did you know low doses of antibiotics increase the growth rate in cattle, talk about mutating disease...

Sounds like what hit me was minor compared to what hit everyone else. Lucky I guess. Crossed fingers here.

I had it too. Was out of work for five days. Gatoraide was the only think that made me feel like anything close to a human being.

Isn't Infuenza a virus? I agree that over-prescription of antibiotics will cause resistant strains of bacteria, but for a "doctor" to say that this puts us at risk for "bird flu" is very unprofessional and inaccurate. Antibiotics have no effect on any virus, only on bacterial infections. If a doctor doesn't know that, then he has no buisiness prescribing anything and should go back to med school(or even high school biology class for that matter).

Sorry for the rant. Eben, get well soon.

but anti biotics do kill bacterial infection which is what causes a sinus infection... and eyeball pain or headaches behind the eyes or in the sinuses themselves ....

The good Doctor was talking about resistance and the imune system concerning lyme disease specifically. but even in the media the use of anti bacterial soaps have come under the close scrutiny of health care professionals as a bad practice....

i used the word "bug" which refers to bacteria not viruses.

problems origionate from touching things with your hands and then
touching your nose transfering whatever your touched to your system otherwise its inhaled as a micro globlett of water that someone exhaled or coughed into the air.

i read everything i can about imune system boosting. Spices work!
echinacea herb rules, as does aloe vera water, garlic ,and of course vitamin C.
