With all the fishing I do at home all season, I normally look forward to skiing in NE or a vacation out west come winter. But next year we are seriously thinking about heading south and doing something more exotic perhaps with a fishing pole instead of a ski pole.

The last few years many people have written about Costa Rica as a primo destination. There have even been a few fishing shows this winter on it. Crocodile Bay Lodge (http://www.crocodilebay.com/) seems to be the spot of choice for many. Have any of you guys been there? I know the sail fishing and offshore gamefish are king for most and I will give that a go, but frankly I am more interested in catching a big roosterfish on spinning gear and finding out more about inshore species. I wonder if you can fish from the shore there?

Anyway I noticed while sniffing around the site a couple kewl videos...one that looks like a fisheye production http://www.crocodilebay.com/video/VHiQualityCrocBayFishing.wmv

Several others photo galleries show some impressive catches and have me really getting pumped. I need to start thinking about trips like this a year or more in advance to plan it, that is why I am looking into it.

Anyway, I have never really taken a "far-away" fishing vacation.. I have been to Hawaii and fished out there but it wasn't a family vacation. I was wondering if any of you guys have been fishing in Costa Rica and can you comment on what it is like in Feb/March/April timeframe?

Thanks
