Made a nice maverick out of pine but am not sure how to weigh it, dont wanna just guess, took to long to carve. Anyone make any of these and have any hints for me? Was thinkin maybe a shot right in front of the forward hook hanger. Thanks

Rig the plug with the hooks that you intend to use. Take a wide rubber band and use that to hold lead in place on the plug. Move the lead around until you get the action that you are after. Once you have the action down, mark the spot and drill for the lead. Make some notes so the next time that you do a similar plug you can weigh in the same location.

the rubber band is a good idea.
