any thoughts on surgical tube storage ? i use to just run the hook through the eye and store in the bag (as a loop), but a lot of print says for bigger fish the tube should be straighter and more of a wobble than a spin , what do you do ? i was thinking of getting some 1 1/2 pvc.and rig something . i only have an 18' cc not a lot of room for storage after loading up with all thats required by law or needed by reality , what do you do ?

Foam noodles kids (and me) use in pools work great for long lures and leaders. a rubber band does the trick for the side without a hook.

I store them with a loose overhand knot. If I want them to run straighter I straighten them just before using them. For bigger fish, fish where there are bigger fish.

I take them and rip out the twisted thin wires then put them back together with thin (single) SS welding wire. It can stand straight as a pencil, or any shape I want for wiggle or swaying action.

But thats just me.

To answer your question, I dont think you can ever get the "cast" out of the rubber. Its made and spooled immediatly, ends with with a memory (like mono line).

My charter buddy hangs his surge tube lures in a 5 gallon pail. He carries another 5 gal pail w/ freshwater and tosses the lures and things he removes off his line to keep down the corrosion and to rinse off his hands.

Amen...
tied in loose knots, hung by the hook, tied tighter...
whatever.. get it near the bottom, add a big honken work and troll slow...
T & W is the grea equalizer.. there are alot of tricks to make it perfect but almost anyone can catch decent fish on em... low and slow
