Taken awhile, but I think I'm ready to go fishing for Taggers.
7 inches, 3.4 oz, slow wagging subsurface swimmer. Should do the trick, but does anyone know if it is OK to put your foot on their head when you unhook 'em? I'm kind of squeamish about touching one.

Sweeeeet - how did youget the bevel in front? Hand carved? Also are the belly hooks on the thru wire? Am I seeing bent hangers or screw eyes? They are beautiful and I bet they swim with plenty of action.:read:

The plug is pine and heavily weighted. It is "hand" shaped with a bandsaw and spokeshave. The front bevel is cut on the bandsaw (as the side profile is cut from a square block) and slightly hollowed. Originally I used a #3 and #7 gouge, which is precise but tedious (particularly in some maple ones) but recently I've used a Salty ball in the drill press and passed the plug on its side past it. Works pretty well. The plug is through wired, but the belly hanger is a sinker eye epoxied in (due to weight placement issues). I've used screw eyes in the maple ones. They swim with a slow wag, subsurface, like a needlefish only more pronounced, but as you speed them up the better ones hump the surface and dart/glide a bit. I haven't tested one in current yet. They look very promising for night fishing, but no fish has looked at them yet so who's to say. Still alot to learn about them.
