They come and go ,hit or miss on different tides and times , day and night, but the full moon in May is generally the peak time. ,,and they will be here soon:soon: 2 weeks I 'd say.

They usually start to decline after the may moon , but I have caught them for fresh bait as late as the first week or so in june. If you want to get get squid be ready the last week in april thru the first 2 or 3 weeks in may.

What are the best methods for stripers when the squid are around the chatham area? Jigging bucktails on wire?

What's the best way to catch squid for bait? I have seen those little squid jigs, do they work well? Where do you look for them? Thanks!

How do you fish the whole dead squid? I've never used whole squid before, I'd have no idea even where to start... The only kind that I think they carry at the tackle shop near me are frozen.

:kewl: :kewl: I was thinking the same thing. Fresh squid is too tasty to use as bait...

double stringer hook for a large squid. cast it and let it drifts.

5 string, buy some yozuri jigs and a few sinkers.

1 hook in the tip of the mantle or through the middle of the mantle....
keep it in freespool and no worries....
