This plug measures 7" and weighs 3 ounces. It is unusual as the single hook hanger is flat and goes from center of cut in the mouth to below the eye and the hook hanges from the bottom.

Plug is moulded from plastic?? and has a black body with multi color herring oattern on the back.

Anyone on this site familiar with this bad boy??

Designed for Salmon trolling but I have heard of some sharpies working the surf with them.

Or Wire-line back in my heathen trolling days :hidin:

Where did you find it? CMS in New Bedford sells that model and the C-Hunk skippers love that color.

Yep. First saw one of many in the milkcrates of plugs aboard Capt. Chet's Noreaster on my first pilgrammage to Cuttyhunk. Think GB had some up on the wires surronding the porches too.

Flap - found this one in the Mystic river close to the Amelia Hart Dam. It could have been dropped from a boat entering the moorings.

It's not a "J-Plug" it's a "Lucky Louie"

I agree with the Bernster..Doesnt the J-plug have a wire leader going from the belly hook though the head ?? When you catch a fish on one, the plug will slide up the leader i think.

I could be wrong.

Quite right. The J-Plug is rigged with a bead chain swivel that goes thru the body, split ring and hook. When a fish is hooked the plug will slide up the line. With that rigging it would not be wise to use it if the Bloooooofish are around. Lose your fish, lose your plug.....2 time loser:blush: :hee:
