I seem to recall that two members of Mass Striped Bass had completed a fairly detailed writeup of different places available to various levels of mobility.

I guess it would help to know what kind of mobility would be ideal for you.

There are great places to consider from the salt ponds inside the Breachways, the South side of the Great Island Bridge and Short Wall in Galilee, Fort Weatherill on Jamestown, Fort Adams in Newport. Just a few off the top of my head...

Well, the canal has a road on both sides. I've seen many wheelchair bound anglers travelling up and down with all their gear. Also, The Wareham river fish pier at the Wareham narrows and Powder Point bridge at Duxbury

I have a friend who is wheel chair bound and paralysed from the upper chest down and we go a few of these places.... I`m trying to see if he can get some financial assistance for a new designed specialty chair with big fat tires so I can wheel him through sand on the beach.

The big dock in Onset downtown, new deck in Cotuit (kinda small and high sided), downtown Wareham, Bass River in Yarmouth decks....always looking for more for my buddy :kewl:

New Bedford has a pier at Fort Tabor perfect for scup , bluefish and schoolie action.C & R only though.

If you go to the Canal and use the fire roads, and have a eletric wheel chair, make sure you get a permit from the Army Corp.

Could not belive it when they told us we had to leave the canal last summer, cause no permit!!

Any how the permit is free but you need to have one!! You can get one at:

Salisbury State Park, has a handicaped rock peir, I have never seen anyone use it.

Went there with my bud Mark....its nice...kinda small and if in a wheel chair the sides are too high but it must be to regs I`m guessing.... in the indentations there are built in cutting boards....nice spot!

If you are in a wheel chair and alone bring a stout rod and perhaps some kind of gaff.

To answer a couple of questions. I can walk about 200 feet then a chair is needed, and a need for air plus rest. Once we settle in it is a long time before we leave. We fish some of the cape rivers, the canal,
and parts of R I. We spend the whole day and hit as many areas as possible.
