There's a place in Bristol but I am not sure exactly where. You can get a bunch cheap.I may try clams this spring as there are no bait stealers around now like there are in summer. They are bangin' em on clams in Jersey right now.

I think Blount seafood somewhere on the east side of the bay has them. Best to call ahead. On LI there are lots of clam boats sailing out of a town called Freeport on the south shore. You can buy shucked clams there for about $12 a bushel.

That is a Montopoli Company. I know the owner very well. Provides top shelf hand shucked clams for the foodservice and chowder industry.

A very old and locally famous salt fisherman recommends tieing the clam onto the hook with red thread. He swore by incoming tides for this bait.

Yep. Montipoli. I interviewed with him for a job there +/-8 years ago.

One time I really wanted to go fishing with clams but all the bait stores around were closed. So I went to the supermarket and bought every clam they had. They were all in shells so I had to find a way to open them up, by the end of the night i was slamin em on the ground ha it was fun. There were probably 15 people at the spot i went to go fishing and I was the only one who caught fish that night:)

Clams are the go to bait in jersey as mentioned above.
Any decent tackle shop should carry them.
If your fishing for bass use something to keep the bait on the hook like elastic thread or a rubber band will work.
Make sure your getting the clam with the belly.
I prefer a high lo rig.

you can also take the whole clam unshucked and bust it up good with the but of your bait knife and put it on the hook.it stays on the hook well and looks natural
