Skitterpop 04-24-2006, 05:30 PM didn`t have digital back then. but until then..... Me and my brother Jack about 9 million years ago :wavey: Backbeach Jake 04-24-2006, 06:09 PM Mike, ya crack me up! Side story: I was born at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego. The San Diego Zoo is right across the street. My Mom used to tell me that I was exchanged for a monkey when I was little and acting up. I thought it was cool that I was really living in a zoo. I was a cross between Leave it to Beaver and Huck Finn when I was a kid:shocked: Skitterpop 04-24-2006, 06:49 PM Fred! Good idea for a thread. Later this week I`ll hook up the scanner again and post a couple real ones. I was Huck Finn all the way :hihi: Best to you, Mike gone fishin 04-24-2006, 07:20 PM Here's one taken a few years back. Check out the sled in those days. We slept on the roof and used all inside space for living and storing the catch before market. 2 wheel drive and rarely had to dig out.:jump: Those were the days! Karl F 04-24-2006, 07:32 PM Oh Man.. Don, that is a fantastic shot of you and your old buggy!!! Dog house on the roof, I remember them :) gone fishin 04-24-2006, 07:37 PM Hello Karl - that is actually a photo of my Dad - he was a sweetwater fisherman and we had to drag him out, but once out he couldn't put the rod down. Great memories - he died in 74. Karl F 04-24-2006, 07:39 PM Definate Resemblance Don.... Great memory for you, I am sure. Backbeach Jake 04-24-2006, 08:39 PM Back in the day 4wd was for wussies. My early P-town days, it was a matter of pride not to put it in 4wd and not get stuck. If ya did either, you didn't know how to drive the beach. Mike. how's you and Karin doing? Rappin Mikey 04-24-2006, 08:41 PM Late 70's early 80's?? First pic is my dad and me with my first nice cod. Second is me and me grand-pappy. I'm blessed to still have him around. Unfortunately, after a botched brain operation, he is unable to fish now. I learned a lot from him. Today, he not only enjoys to eat the fish I catch for him. He also likes to hear the stories and actually see a fish once in a while for himself. Thats why I will continue to keep a few for him here or there as long as he is around. Backbeach Jake 04-24-2006, 08:45 PM Ahhh! Little Mikey is shining the 'tude he still sports! justplugit 04-24-2006, 09:08 PM Great pics... uh... the young JPI.. guys.. am I alone in seeing a resemblance to reelectasy?... I just did a double take.... My condolences Chris. :( CAL 04-24-2006, 09:08 PM Mikey, second pic looks like a nekkid dude hurlin' over the side :bl2: RickBomba 04-25-2006, 12:54 AM He wasn't quite naked then, but he's pretty close now...BTW he never hurled (like the rest of us). Pic with mikey and the cod on the left, you can see my head on the right hand side. They never took pix of me...I was too busy catchin (not like my poseur brother). Later, Rick RickBomba 04-25-2006, 12:55 AM It does look like Mikey's the only one with pants on in the bluefish pic...oh the seventies on that boat...very BLOODY!!! ProfessorM 04-25-2006, 10:05 AM Dave, JPI, you old bastage:hee: reelecstasy 04-25-2006, 10:09 AM My condolences Chris. :( :) If that's the case, you look great! Seriously, I love the pictures, and that is a damn fine haircut :btu: ... Backbeach Jake 04-25-2006, 11:18 AM Summer '65 Huge keeper from Pilgrim Pond, N. Truro. Bob strikes again. Jimbo 04-25-2006, 11:35 AM Can't be a "back in the day" unless you got an old codger sitting in front of his fishing shanty. Got his oars and homemade skiff ready and waiting for high tide. The place just disappeared during one of the big hurricanes. Hope I do this right. Jimbo 04-25-2006, 11:40 AM OK, let me try that one more time. JohnR 04-25-2006, 12:13 PM Hey Chris - looks like yer gonna look like s cross between Malcolm McDowell and that dude from Whitesnake :jump: I'll need to get mom to scan some pics of my grandfather fishing Sandy Point by Annapolis - I was about 4 years old in that pic... justplugit 04-25-2006, 02:43 PM Old pics, where's Clammah's, i know he's gotta be at least 10 years older than me. :hidin: JohnR 04-26-2006, 07:28 AM Old pics, where's Clammah's, i know he's gotta be at least 10 years older than me. :hidin: Just put in any old picture of Gabe Kaplan and you'll see what Clammer looked like in the 80s... :liquify: Karl F 04-26-2006, 10:10 AM first fishin' rod.. and well, ;) first fish tale... May of 59, according to my Dad's note on the back of the pics... Man, I was styling.. dig that hat!...:hihi: vineyardblues 04-26-2006, 01:32 PM Nice Hat dude, and you still have not grown an inch! VB justplugit 04-26-2006, 07:17 PM You were stylin my man Karl, stylin. :hihi: Looks like a 56-57 Ford in the garage:huh: BTW-- is that the driveway where ya sat on the chair and watched your buddy blow by at 125 with his front fork ashakin. :D RIROCKHOUND 04-27-2006, 07:55 AM A few blackfish pics... First is my father, circa 1980ish, his Peresonal Best blackfish at 17.5... an absolute moose of a blackfish.. I might bass fish 100+ trips a year but when we go blackfishing, I usually get smoked... and I know how to catch em... I think he smells the %$%$%$%$ers before they bite.... He lurks occasionally as Tautog01 on here and a few other boards... Second is my grandfather with an average blackfish... OK, not back in the day, but he was a 'back in the day' fisherman. Pic is circa late 90's, one of his last fishingtrips. he was a great blackfisherman 'in the day' and still laugh when I think about his stories... he didnt fish with us much his last few years, but was always willing to dole advice from behind his desk and is sorely missed. Every now and then ,thinking of something (i.e. looking for a new piece of structure) and I catch my self thinking I'll ask Red...) He still provides some MoJo, and his trusty squidder is still always at ready! RIROCKHOUND 04-27-2006, 07:57 AM Pic 3... Again circa 1980.. Blackfish and Cod... inshore grounds... Before people go PETA on me, this was the days before bag limits AND this was commercial rod and reel.. I dont think either of us kept more than 4 or 5 blackfish a day last year... just a few fillets then trophy hunting... :rocketem: :tooth: gone fishin 04-27-2006, 08:00 PM Karl - they are real keepers. Do you still have the hat? Great mem:kewl: ories. Karl F 04-30-2006, 01:11 PM Nice Hat dude, and you still have not grown an inch! VB :hihi:... Hey! I Resemble that Remark :hihi:... Maybe not an inch in height VB, but the Girth has Suffered ;) GF.. no on the hat, but it jogged my memory, finding that box of black and whites... I remember that rod :o.. funny, somethings you don't forget... like a dad who worked two, sometimes three jobs, had six sons, and still found time to teach me how to drown worms... JPI.. not a Ford.. That's "Christine" in the garage :D.. 57 Sport Fury (Sand Dune White, not the Banana Yellow)... I wish I still had the hat, the rod, and Dad's old Hot Rod :D vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
