View Full Version : Board problem?
Saltheart 04-27-2006, 02:05 PM maybe its my computer but the board is acting funny today.
The top banner comes up instantly but then there's a fairly long delay before the message board part appears below the banner. Anybody else seeing this happen?
reelecstasy 04-27-2006, 02:13 PM me too, plus everyonce and a while it freezes and then all i get is the google script across the whole page...
fishaholic18 04-27-2006, 02:16 PM Yup, "Error Loading Page" on and off all day.
JohnR 04-27-2006, 02:17 PM Really? Huh. I saw a couple problems that I did not like and rebooted the server around 1:30 or so. Has it happened since then? If it has could someone take a snap shot and e-mail it to me?
Thanks!
John
fishaholic18 04-27-2006, 02:20 PM Working fine now, not sure what time.
beamie 04-27-2006, 02:33 PM It was OK this morning, seems after lunch this delay started.

MakoMike 04-28-2006, 06:37 AM I haven't had a problem at all, not today yesterday or the day before.
JohnR 04-28-2006, 07:29 AM I'm wondering if there is a traffic bottleneck/disruption somewhere between the server and where some of you are having issues ?? Especially if some of you still are... But I'm still looking...
fishaholic18 04-28-2006, 07:32 AM Been fine since yest. aft.

VB
tynan19 04-28-2006, 08:29 AM Site speed seems normal. I only have the moon in the upper right corner no adds. Not sure if that is an issue.
Saltheart 04-28-2006, 09:15 AM On mine now its only a problem on the initial click to the site. that did the same thing. Instant banner , very slow with the message board. Once in the site though , I have no problems when I go from forum to forum or to threads within the forum.
ProfessorM 04-28-2006, 09:40 AM Still slow as molasses running down a hill in Feb.
JohnR 04-28-2006, 09:54 AM Are you all using Microsoft Internet Explorer?
reelecstasy 04-28-2006, 09:55 AM I am Boss man... same deal today as well..I will try my firefox tonight
Saltheart 04-28-2006, 09:55 AM yes

Swimmer 04-28-2006, 11:54 AM It the I T guys probelm..........he still thinks tin cans and string transmitt bandwidth.:faga:
Mike P 04-28-2006, 11:57 AM It's fine with Firefox, slow with IE, at least for me.
i just thought thats the way it always loaded.
JohnR 05-02-2006, 09:39 AM OK - for the first time I just saw what you are talking about - and it happened in Internet Explorer (which I only use when Firefox does not work - rare).
I will update the site to fix that problem - my apologies!!
If any of you are intereested in a faster browser - be sure to check out FireFox @ http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/
Thanks!
John
Saltheart 05-02-2006, 10:11 AM What are the advantages of Foxfire? When working right , its blink , blink , blink with IE.
Is Foxfire fully integrated with the rest of the Microsoft applications? For example , if I click on an email link in Foxfire , will it open my Outlook mail program automatically . There must be other integration issues too?

When a page loads fast and is compatible with both browsers (most of the time) they will load the same with maybe a slight edge to FF. It basically comes down to when the site is designed. If the site is geared to open standards FF will usually be the better browser. If the site is geared to a Microsoft back end with Microsoft specific code it will work better in IE.

Clicking on a link will open your default client - for example I use full Outlook (not express) as my email client and it will open Outlook when I click on the link.
Other integration issues? Just like noted above if the site is heavily geared to MS, IE will be the choice. If it is standards based, FF is the better. FF does also have a lot of plug ins to do various tasks and I feel it is generally a more secure browser.
reelecstasy 05-02-2006, 11:21 AM I love firefox..... :hee:
Skip N 05-02-2006, 11:33 AM Yeah the sites been running slow the past couple days, i've noticed it too
JohnR 05-02-2006, 11:50 AM Yeah the sites been running slow the past couple days, i've noticed it too
With Firefox or IE ?
Thanks
JohnR 05-02-2006, 02:40 PM OK - I think I found the culprit - IE is not handling that right side colum well and after I put in the Moon Phases it seemed to cause IE to wait longer to load - was not a problem in Firefox. So I changed a few things and we'll ho it goes. I will find a new place for the Moon Phases...
Thanks,
John

tattoobob 05-02-2006, 03:20 PM IE is not supported anymore and hasn't been for a few years now, Firefox Is free and everyone should Google it and download it.

MS is no longer updating and supporting IE for older operating systems like Win98 and ME (thank god) but they are coming out with IE 7 soon and will likely need to work through, uhh, issues once that happens. FireFox has excellent support for older Operating Systems...
OK you Yakheads - it is up and running :cputin: :lasso:
Slipknot 05-02-2006, 05:04 PM I could not get in to the message board with firefox just now so I had to use IE  first time that's happened

Sorry about that - it was unrelated - I started a big job (bigger than I thought) that sucked up all the CPU time for 10 or so minutes :tooth:
Slipknot 05-02-2006, 05:11 PM oh

striprman 05-02-2006, 05:26 PM John,
Maybe it's me , but the search functons (pull down tabs) don't work for me in IE but work fine in Firefox. So, I have to do any "searches" using Firefox.
macojoe 05-02-2006, 05:59 PM That explains it, I tryed to get on here tonight like 6pm and the site was down, Nothing, Now seems to be fine and fast! I use IE

I think it is you - is it happening now with IE? OK, seriously, I do not see that problem in IE. Does anyone else have this problem?
macojoe 05-02-2006, 06:06 PM I am flying with IE, I just installed Firefox and it is aso flying
Saltheart 05-02-2006, 06:33 PM Yep , IE is now back to blink , blink , blink. No delays at all.
