View Full Version : A BUSY SUNDAY MORNING
Squid kids Dad 04-21-2002, 07:06 PM I fished Buttermilk Bay this Sunday morning from about 6:30 a/m till 9:30 a/m...The last 3 hours of the outgoing tide..WOW!! All schoolies ,the biggest being 21 inches...I caught one for each state in the U.S. YUP!! ..I was tired but it was a good tired..:o
Can't wait to go back...Hey Jul's I had many doubles, thanks to your teasers...(the squid color worked awesome)...
TheSpecialist 04-21-2002, 08:59 PM I caught all my fish on her teasers too. This is the first time I ever used them. I always thought it would be a pain in the _ _ _. It is'nt though.
JohnR 04-22-2002, 07:31 AM Teasers just plain work - I have had times when I wasn't getting any fish on my lure, put a teaser on and then suddenly start getting hits on the lure that I, or anyone else around me wasn't getting before the teaser went on...
Some kind of teaser should be fished in most circumstances...
Fisherwoman 04-22-2002, 10:12 AM Glad to hear it Mikie, have been out of town for a few days, doing a little camping with my God son and his family. Can't wait to get down that way.
So Specialist are ya hooked yet!!!! LOL
nightfighter 04-22-2002, 12:16 PM Juls,
Any chance you can diagram or described the various ways of rigging the teasers? I've probably seen them rigged 4 or 5 different ways and don't know the why or when.

Stars and stripers forever
What kink of teasers you talking about?
I have tied flies a couple of feet in front of a lure with some success.
What are you using?
JohnR 04-22-2002, 12:33 PM Van - that's exactly it. If you are going Wed night, FW & BC will be doing a display on their teaser rig setups... Welcome to S-B
Thanks, I will be there.
Who are FW/BC ?
JohnR 04-22-2002, 01:02 PM You'll recognize them at the show as they show off their teaser rigs .... I guess you can say they have heavy involvement in the club... Look forward to meeting you myself too.
:D
My son's baseball games ends around 7. so i will be a bit late for the meeting.
That means the only seats avalable will be at the BAR. (BUMMER)
Hope to meet you too.
JohnR 04-22-2002, 02:08 PM We sit just to the right of the stairs when you come into the meeting. A bunch of old folk and me, the young fat guy ;)
Topwater 04-22-2002, 02:45 PM Hey, just because I am going gray doesn't mean I am older than you. I'll see you Wednesday. We have to go to court at 2:00 so I won't be leaving from in town.

TheSpecialist 04-22-2002, 03:02 PM Fisherwoman I am hooked and so is the wife. She had a ball this weekend. I need to stock up on the teasers now.
John, does Mike sit with your group also ?
Fisherwoman 04-23-2002, 08:39 AM Nightfighter,
There is no exact sience to putting a teaser rig together. The whole object is to make the lure look like it is chasing the fly, so it will put the fish into striking mode. Everybody has their own preference to how they may want to put one together and how long they might want it to be.
We have a standard method which works best for us, we use terminal tackle, we don't tie the knot from the fly line onto the main line, so that you won't break the whole rig apart if 2 large fish hit it at the same time.
We use strickly Seagar flourocarbon, 30 # test. Berkley snaps and barrels and some really pretty flies!!!! LOL Always remember that you want that lure to look like it is chasing the fly. Don't change the action of the lure because you are using a teaser rig, keep the action the same as you would if you didn't have the rig on. And then hold on, because you never know what might hit your line.
SPecialist, glad the wife had a great time, you better get stocked up now that you will be fishing as a team. She looks hooked to me!!!.
We will have the teasers at the club for sale if anybody needs some.

do you tie it as a dropper on the floro or do you tie a long peice of leader to your swivel? do you use lighter pound test for your droppers?
