I just turned some of those, have yet to hydro-orient abd machine. I think one may turn out like that one. Tagger 05-12-2006, 08:33 PM curves are kickin ,,looks fishy,, Is that a copy of Orig ? nice size .. u get my 5lb. pickerel message ? computer crashed . Slim Pickins is a great artist .. have all his tunes PNG 05-13-2006, 08:23 AM Cool stuff George, I am honored to be put in the same sentence as tagger. I just hope he dont want too cut me in half (from jaws kinda - "Hey Chief were gonna need a bigger saw") The slope looks to be 40 deg, no? I think you will find that thing is gonna go down and fast kinda tough from shore but stop reeling it in and she comes up quick. The 30 deg and slightly less are easier from shore and with the right wood/retrieve they can stay on top or close to it fun lure Tagger 05-13-2006, 10:40 AM Cool stuff George, I am honored to be put in the same sentence as tagger. No I'm honored sir ,, I think you got more time in on this one than me ..Great lure ... would like to try the single belly hook one like that ,.. Want to get an original ... I make the big one with 2 belly hooks and the tail hook .. I run 1 5/0 on the belly and 1 5/0 on the tail .. runs the same as the 3 3/0.... thanks Tobias for that ..look at all the money we are saving on metal lips .. eastendlu 05-13-2006, 10:57 AM WoW George that is sweet, btw you still have my addy i hope :D Pissa plug!!!!! Flaptail 05-13-2006, 03:57 PM Whats up with the rusty hooks George? Hook budget gone into the red for the rest of the year? Call me I'll front you some!:D :bl: Karl F 05-13-2006, 06:02 PM A Floyd, with a nose job, looks neat. Nice work, as per usual. Tagger 05-14-2006, 07:24 AM Whats up with the rusty hooks George? Yea George ,,,hows she swim .. We can see you tested ? ThrowingTimber 05-14-2006, 08:30 AM beauty :D numbskull 05-14-2006, 08:55 PM Yea George ,,,hows she swim .. We can see you tested ? The hooks are new (1986 vintage Mustads), something funny about the lighting (no flash?) just makes them look used. I did fish it tonight, however. Too bouyant (in spite of a tail weight and floating attitude as you've described). Hard to get it down, and it took too fast a retrieve to keep it down, but it looked really good when it was swimming (just faster than I'd want). Either more weight, a higher line tie, wider diving plane, or slimmer profile...........I don't know..... but seems like it is worth tweeking. FYI it wasn't anywhere near an exact copy of an original, I don't have one of the medium ones. Cool plug, as you and PNG have found out, and one with a lot of promise. Tagger 05-15-2006, 02:48 PM Too bouyant (in spite of a tail weight and floating attitude as you've described). Mine swims and stays down just fine I made the larger one... I tried different wood and was prepared to do hardwoods but ayc worked just fine .. I think red cedar or white pine would be a bad choice ,,too light .. I look at this lure as a fishy looking bottle darter . Maybe VB will post pick... here we go ... http://www.shorelinebt.com/id27.html Nothing like having a real model ,,,, pictures aren't as accurate ... Why couldn't you just go up the street to the Flap museum and borrow one... PNG 05-15-2006, 06:46 PM I think red cedar or white pine would be a bad choice Not really you just gotta change some stuff. Doc's on it AYC is easier though Pete F. 05-16-2006, 08:23 AM I've done the large ones in sugar pine, but if I use a tailweight they don't swim well. Without a weight they have a tight wiggle and when I do the tailweight they tend to kick out and turn over. If I make more I need to figure out a jig to cut the head angle, the way I've been doing it is scary. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
