It is not as bad as everyone is thinking. Its not that good either. Most post 80's boats should be fine. Carry an extra fuel filter with you.

They had a guy on there that has a 70 something Bertram and it is going to cost him like $10,000 to remove the teak deck and replace the fiberglass tank.
Thats the guys getting it, the ones with fiberglass tanks, it leaches the resin out of the glass and sends to your motor and causes a host of problems.

But for the rest of us, its going to clean all the crap out of are tanks, (this is a good thing) But all that stuff is going to the motor (This is a bad thing) But after a few tanks of gas is used they should be all clean and there will be no more issues.

I for one am using this to tell my wife that I have to get the boat out more so that I can get it all cleaned out before there are problems!!

We have had ethanol gas here for three years now in CT. I am running a carbed 1996 Yammi (3 carbs, 200hp). This is the second season I have had to rebuild the carbs. There might have been 50 hours of use. I have the 10 micron racor filter.

I rebuilt the bottom carb last night. There was a piece of crud in the bowl that was about the size of a number 2 pencil eraser. When I grabbed it, it crumbled into a fine powder. This ethanol fuel sucks. My tank is 100 gallons, and I would have to cut the floor to remove and clean or replace it. I have friends who have spent a plie of money and hours in frustration because of this fuel additive.

Get ready to replace fuel lines, and primer bulbs because the ethanol seems to break some of them down.
