i have been useing 2 $44 walmart specials for everything. they are the 6'6" uglystick medium action with the silver reels on them. they have worked fine for me in the past but as of recent i have been getting more knowledgeable about how i want pluggs to pop and the size of lures i want to use. i was thinkning about getting a 8 or 9 foot tsunami graphite and useing a okuma reel. this should run me somewhere around 150 - 180. this is a big investment for me and i wanted to get feedback on this. i will mostly be fishing from shore, but not exclusively. we have a small 14 foot inflateable that i run around new bedford and the islands with. but i like to fish the canal and i do alot of fishing from fairhaven and new bedford from shore. i really love to use pluggs, but am not going to shut out the idea of useing storm swimmers. any and all info is greatly appreicated.

thank

I saw a couple of Tsunami graphite rods in action this past weekend at the MSBA MBBA casting contest and was really impressed. Great action in that blank. Go with a Penn reel.

Tica Dolphin, Tsunami, or Daiwa Sealine-X - any one of those you should be able to get as a spinner in 9' for 1-3oz for $60-$70. I bet you can get a reel for another $60-$100 (tica libra, penn 550SSG, shimano spheros - 8000) that would last a long time with that rod.

Good luck with your decision.

Stalter...take it from me, find someone or a butcher or learn yourself to make venison sausage. 5 years ago we stopped cutting up venision into hamburg and have been making up sausage instead. The sausage comes out unbelievable when done right, so much better than having hamburg.

Try it, you will not regret it. We won't ever have hamburg anymore...

Go see Mike cc at M&Ds in Wareham. You can poke the ceiling with Tsunami, Tica or Quarrow rods and see which ones you like. The Tica Dolphin series are very good rods for under $100 and the heavier 9' and 10' models will work for the Canal. But, if you want to spend a little more, those Quarrow rods are worth a good look :humpty:
