Bought 5 last season, but did not get a chance to try them out. Plan to buy my NH rec license and then give it a shot this year (Merrimac River area). Any salties out there have any advice for a newbie? I'm thinking that the majority of the time I'll set them out in the early AM and then fish for the day and then haul them before I head in. When I stay overnight then I'll leave them out. Since I just fish the weekends I'm thinking I won't leave them for a whole week. These are wire with mesh traps and collapse for storage. They are not the full blown pro traps. Interested in any advice on baiting techniques, setting (individual vs stringing together, locations, anything at all

Did plenty of lobstering, what your doing is like a river setup, what you need is soft fast fishing bait, like good ole bluefish. String fishes faster than bag, so stringem.

OK, got my license. I need to buy lobster buoys, a carpace measuring device, bait bags and some rope. Can anyne suggest where to buy this stuff? Something close to the Merrimac River would be nice.

Also, I think I'll tie them all together with like 50 feet of rope in between. Logic being that they might stay put better.

Oh, last question. My license is for New Hampshire. Does anyone know if I can fish in MA waters with them? What if I'm in the EEZ?

go to a local marine supply store, they will set you up right. make sure you get some sinking line so you r line doesn't float on the surface and foul someones prop. For bait use herring if you can in NH, or menhadden, use a couple per bag. look for isolated rock piles or humps on the bottom. make sure you write the date and numbers down (location) incase some cuts your end. good luck
