GPSMAP 498 GPS/SOUNDER W/EXTERNAL anteni

Any body using this system. I am looking to buy one. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I think TheSpecialist (Bill) is running the 492 which is just the chartplotter version of that unit. Very nice unit with a fast refresh rate. Easy view color screen even in bright sunlight. The only thing I saw negative about it was their new swivel bracket. Seems like a somewhat sloppy fit and the unit was getting bounced and shocked quite a bit. In my thinking, that can't be a good thing for the long haul. I think Bill had a plan to correct that issue though.
I like the size and features of this product. If he doesn't weigh in here on this, PM him. I'm sure Bill would be more than happy to share his thoughts and opinions.

Plus you get to use the newer g2 bluecharts which are much better than the regular bluecharts. Someday. P.

I am running the 492, and I really like it. Like Bob said it is color, easily readable in sunlight, fast refresh rate, and the new G2 charts. The sloppyness in the swivel mount was just operator error. I tightened down the knurled knob that supplies the tension, and no more dancing. So far I am satisfied.
