It's not that I would not have started Clement,But you don't let the game slip away. That game was over early.
A player will never ask to be taken out.

Why not Arroyo??? Oh yeah we sent his 6-2 record to the National league for Wily Mo "Won't Go" Pena. I guess that pass ball wasn't far enough into the stands for him to go.

Manny Showed up for the series though....outstanding 3 games from him

Yeah, this guy's a stooge. Anybody could win the first WS in 86 years in Year 1, and tie for first in year 2 without the closer and #1, #2, and #3 pitcher from the previous year. And, oh yeah, coach the team back into first with a leadoff hitter on the DL, a third baseman at first and ineffective #3,#4, and #5 pitchers.

This guy's a bum. We need Clell Lavern Hobson back.

Please, the 04 team was stacked with talent just like this one.
After all this team has the second highest payroll in baseball they better be able to play.
Just think if they had a skipper that was not scared of hurting his players feelings.

Hell, we had a great chance of winning it all in O3 if it was not for Grady Little sticking with Pedro to long:fishslap:

So if payroll=talent=championships then Joe Torre absolutley sucks the last few years. His club spends 50% more than any other

New York Yankees $ 194,663,079
Boston Red Sox $ 120,099,824
Los Angeles Angels $ 103,472,000
Chicago White Sox $ 102,750,667
New York Mets $ 101,084,963
Los Angeles Dodgers $ 98,447,187
Chicago Cubs $ 94,424,499
Houston Astros $ 92,551,503
Atlanta Braves $ 90,156,876
San Francisco Giants $ 90,056,419
St. Louis Cardinals $ 88,891,371

Francona is getting solid contributions from his lowest paid players (Pap, Youk), while overcoming less than stellar results from Clement ($9.8M) Foulke ($7.8M) Tavarez ($3.3M). I dont think it's just money that wins rings. I'm not saying it's all coaching either but give the man his due. Best Sox Manager I've seen (Walpole Joe is a close second.)

I'm curious as to who you would rather have coach this team. I have a feeling he might be pissing some of these guys off from time to time. Only he's not like Ozzie "Hey, everybody, look, I have big cojones" Guillen. Keep it in the clubhouse, and outta the press.

Yeah Torre must stink the Yankeeys have won the AL East 7 years in a row.
I would take Joe Torre in a heart beat. Look at how he does it with no pitching and a banged up team. only 1/2 back.

Except that the Yankees' yardstick for a successful season isn't winning the AL East ;)

It's been "26 and holding" since 2000 :rtfm:

Now if you said Francona sucks because he has a $200M payroll and hasnt won a ring, I'd be right with you.

But I think he's doing a pretty good job playing the cards Theo deals him. Two and a half years, one ring, one tie for first, first place.

Francona is doing ok ,but is to much of a players manager.
Look at last year Belhorn and Millar, that was painful to watch.
I would like to see him a little quicker going to the pen and giving guys not producing a few days off to get strightend out.

I don't think Torre is that great of a manager, he has the Genie in the Bottle called Steinbrenner.

"Let's see for my next wish I would like another guy that can hit 40 HR's and bat .325"

"Your wish is my command"

I mean the yankees year in and year out go out with the most stacked team in the majors and don't have the Rings to show for it (lately).

The yankees are like the Tinman....They need a Heart.
