Getting the boat ready in the driveway, I plugged in the GPS and FF to check them out. To my surprise, the GPS had lost all my waypoints. I e-mailed Raymarine, and they said the internal battery was dead and to send the unit in. They gave me the link and when I checked it out the flat rate for an out-of -warranty repair was $250.

I emailed them back and said 250 seems a bit excessive for a battery replacement, and I asked them for the type of battery or the part and I'd do it my self. Another response from them said they did not know what battery it was and they do not suggest the "user" open the display as the battery is soldered in. YEA RIGHT !!!

I opened the case and found the battery, bought one at radio shack for $3.99, cut the brackets off the old one, spot welded them on to the new one, coated with some stop-off. VIOLA !! I even purged and filled the whole unit in nitrogen (just like in the factory) Total cost 4.19 (with tax).. Check it our today works perfect...

Everything is finally fixed so...............
I should finally be able to put her in the slip Monday.....YES!!!!!
