Bigcat 06-02-2006, 05:51 PM Check the thermo-coupler first,I had to pay a guy $100.00 for a five minute job:uhoh:
Our dryer (gas) chit the bed las week too. When we bought it 5 years ago I had "Mr Appliance" hook it up for me. I already had the old one out in the driveway and the new one in the basement 3' away from where it goes. Took him 10 minutes and cost me 150 bux.:uhoh: Worst part is that he told me that appliance makers only make washers and dryers to last 5 years nowadays.:exp:
Our dryer runs but has no heat. I don't think they even have pilot lites in them anymore.
spence 06-02-2006, 06:06 PM A standard gas dryer will usually fail in only a few ways. It's either one of the fuses, the coil or a gas solenoid.
Most of the fuses are very simple and cheap to repair. The others cost a bit more, but it's still the min labor charge that will get ya. If you can't do it yourself, get the cheapest local repair person you can...a basic dryer is not very complicated.
Of course the new LG unit I bought last year requires a freakin PhD. Good thing we got the extended warranty.

Dave, use that site I put up to fix it, had same problem, was a $5 part.
Swimmer 06-03-2006, 02:59 PM My dryer heating element crapped out also. Thanks this is awesome. I always fixed other appliances.
I'm ready to take up drinking again:lossinit: Went to the site (Thanks Dave) and figures it might be the igniter. Went over to Raynham got the part and installed it, no heat still. The site slao says it could be a thermal fuse. Only problem is I can't find anything that remotely resembles the part pictured on the site??????????
Found the problem. I removed the thermal fuse and connected the 2 wire ends....:spin: Voila heat. Now I can pick up a new fuse on Monday and be back in business. I tried talking my wife into giving me the money it would have cost to have a repair man fix it:heybaby: ....... NOT

Nice going Dave.
Dryer looks like mine did a few months ago. Stubborn/cheap bastards we are..:eek5:
It's threads like this that remind me why I never got married.
It's not being stubborn or cheap.
Self sufficient.
I hate paying for something I can figure out myself.
Leaves so much more money left for "The other stuff."
