As always, im trying to find more ways to catch bass. Recently a friend of mine purchased a ton of spoons without hardware for short $$$ from Hagens

They are almost identical to the old Daredevle spoons used forever in freshwater. These are 4 inches long and weigh about 3/4 oz. I have them in hot orange, chartruese, and a green/yellow combo

I am skeptical to give them a try for stripers but who knows...The only spoons I have used in the past are the kastmasters and used only sparingly for blues, macks, etc.

The attached image is close....but not the color scheme.

Im sure they will work on frenzied blues (what doesn't) but Im curious as to how bass will react.

Please advise!!

I am pretty sure those will work on shcool bass . I like the lil krocs for school bass and little cleos as far as tins go. Give em a shot and put a little time in with em.

In NJ when the peanut bunker are thick on the beach i have caught bass slowly workin the 3/4 oz chrome imitation daredevil, i have only used them in chrome during the day form teh beach and the biggest bass i ahve taken on them was about 15lbs, i have used all white at nite with fair to moderate success.

Thanks Anthony, I figured that if I had them...might as well use them. The color schemes I have are standard across most swimming baits for bass anyway.

Worst case....I can beat the s**t out of them when the blues are blitzing.

I have heard of people trolling them on an umbrella rig or a 9er rig with a longer leader on the spoon in the center as if the spoon is chasing the bait fish on the umbrella.

Comments above are correct. You will catch plenty of smaller bass to around 35 inches or so on those...probably not much bigger than that. You'll catch all the blues in the ocean with them.

If you're looking for big bass, though, leave them in the surf bag.
