Bought a new car, wont be in for a month so I need to decide what to do with my 4Runner, trade in or sell. I have a 40 mile , 1 way commute to work and can't justify the gas expense, we already have a mini van.
I love this thing and it has served me well the last 10 years, I am the 2nd owner.
I'm just looking to see if anyone would be interested before making a decision, I have a ballpark that the dealer will give me and what i am looking for is less that the Blue Book value.
Here are a some facts
138,000 miles
4WD, 6 cylinder, Gray
Sony CD player installed
Runs fantastic, no problems at all
Had new front brakes/rotors last year
Front tires, pretty new, back tires should be replaced soon.
Always maintained w/oil changes etc. timing belt replaced a few years ago.
Problems I am aware of:
The gas cap cover broke off in sub-zero weather a few years ago. i still have it and someone could most likely just weld to repair.
The AC does not consistenly work, sometimes it has a high pitched squeal sound. Other times works perfectly.
I know this car has at least another 100,000 in it. I am thinkin fo asking $3,000. Thoughts? Interest?

If I needed a vehicle I would be all over this in a heatbeat.
Gotta love Toyota for their dependability. Good price too...

Automatic Transmission.
Here are some pics. We cleaned it up this weekend and I decided not to trade in but to sell oursleves. The $3000 still stands for S-B but I am going to ask $3400 elsewhere.
Let me know if you're intersted.

Any advice on selling this? I posted in auto trader and craigslist adn only 1 guy in a month has taken a look. Hes been back twice and is still interested but I am wondering why I am not getting a better response? No calls at all, I'm asking @ $2000 less than other similar 4runners for sale?

Hi Jimmy,

No offense please. I think because it is going on 13 years old people worry about major stuff going wrong. Also it would have to be a cash deal because you cannot finance that age vehicle. Gas mileage is not great.
It would have to be a very specific buyer with a specific use intended.

Did the dealer offer you under $1,000.00? Hang in there... I think it would make a great second/third beach vehicle for short distance hauls.
