what do you put in your skinz small belt pouch? and can you live without it?:fishslap:

Some of my rubber, one of each kinda thing. Much easier than having to open storm bags and such that i keep in the large belt bag... Plus before I go out, I take a big ole scoop of smelly jelly and coat the inside :hihi:

beach pouch; snaps, swivels, BIG trebles (shad) leader material, breakaway clips in the zippered compartment. Stubby needle fish and rubbah in the zip portion.

rocks: bucktails, eel rigs, rubbah same in the zippered compartment.

Yeah it flips itself open and can be costly. I run two rubber bands, thru my belt on either side of the small pouch. When I close the bag, i slide these rubber bands over the flap for the pouch.

This small bag can benefit greatly from three things:

1. two pieces of inner tube rubber (heavy rubba). ie. take the piece of rubber and slide it through your belt. 1a. Slide your bag onto your belt. 1b. slide on the second rubber band. Then you can pull the band on either side of your belt to keep the velcro potion closed.

2. Stainless steel zippers or marine grade zippers. The zippers need to be reinforced on the ends as well.

3. Reinforcement. The bag needs double or triple stitched seams. We're not carrying make up in these bags :laughs: and if I think that I can chuck x amount of bucktail jigs into that little bag, because Im humping it 3 miles, guess what??? Imma be pissed if I get there and my jigs are dotting my trail like hansel and gretel..

Its not a bad bag, I love mine but personally I think its needs to be reinforced because it is very versatile. But the above would make the bag truly much better, and add to its versatility.

I really dont know what i ever did without it. In the front i keep leaders, teasers, and some extra swivels/snaps. In the big pouch i keep my sluggos and storm shads, and an extra small flash light. my car keys go in there and ive usually got a granola bar or something.
The front opening can be annoying, but overall its a great thing to have.

The small pouch has been completely redesigned with a military grade turn buckle for the flap closure as well as a second strap to better secure it the belt, railing etc. The zipper has also been beefed up to better handle the contstant use. As for the re-enforcement comment that too has been addressed for the better.

This is an awesome piece of equipment to use. Personally it is probably my favorite and my most used; I even use it as a fanny pack when not using it fishing.

Not to hijack the thread but in the pic on your site of the med lure bag, you show a Gerber Multi-tool attached by some sort of coiled line. What is that line?

That is a coil lanyard made by Acme. VS make a very similar one which is also very good. I have converted to using old cell phone car charger coils though with large coast lock clips held in place by small zip pull ties. These work just as well. Hope that helps.

Dont know about the skinz, but I use my small Army surplus belt bag to hold rigged eels....

The pouches are great for all your rubber, including rigged sluggos or 5",6",7" & 9" shad baits. I use the large pouch for all my rubber baits as well as my rigged eels in individual zip lock bags. The large pouch fits 30+ rigged sluggos or 2+ dozen rubber shads. I have put 12 large rigged eels and 12+ rubber shads at the same time into the large pouch. I don't like to sacrifice bag space for rubber plus it keeps me more organized and makes me more effecient. You guys should try combining the pouches with whatever bag you might use, you will see the many benefits they offer :kewl:.

Ditto Kadir... My large belt bag has all my zip locks full, and I use the small to have a few of each at the ready, while they marinade in the jelly...... who carries the new one, I wanna upgrade to the new and improved :hee:

My understanding is that the Van Staal lanyard is no more, so if you really like it, grab it while you can. The guy who used to make it has stopped.

Aftco (http://www.saltwateredge.com/PROD//TL47) makes a great lanyard too. It stretches as far as the VS does and at $6.99 costs about a 1/3 of the price of the VS lanyard.

I love that lanyard! I use to use it all the time but they were hard to find so I started making my own but that one is great for anyone out there looking for a good attachment.

Reelecstacy: A number of the shops have them but a lot of the MA shops have been a bit slow this year as you know and they may not have them due to that. Saltwater Edge and Surfcasting Rhode Island have them for sure and you can order on-line as I am sure you are aware. Otherwise, go on our dealers page and call our MA delaers to see who might have inventory.

I love my pouches on the yak....combined with the small bag and I am all but set. I should take pictures and post the set up, it is really easy because of our strap system and they handle just about everything one might need on the yak.
