Owner catches three kids on house roof
HYANNIS -A homeowner called police yesterday afternoon to report he was holding three youths at bay after catching them jumping from the roof of a house.
By the time police arrived the three had run from the scene, but were caught a short time later, according to Barnstable police Sgt. Sean Sweeney.
The homeowner told police that he arrived at the house on the corner of Stevens and North Street sometime after 3 p.m., intending to do some work. The house is being renovated, Sweeney said.
The man told police he spotted three youths jumping from the roof and temporarily held them at bay with a stick, however, the youths ran when the man said he would call police.
Arrested were Michael Redgate, 17, of Marstons Mills, Scott McAndrews, 17, of Cotuit, and Jonathon Thomson17, of Sandwich. All three were charged with breaking and entering in the daytime.
Redgate faces an additional charge of possession of a class C substance - phencyclidine, a hallucinogen. All three are scheduled to be arraigned today in Barnstable District Court.
