stiff tip 06-24-2006, 07:04 AM ,:chatter steves skiff is a 14' mirrocraft about 40 yrs old once owned by a quite famous fisherman an hunter as well as a noted author and coauthor of several out of doors books...anyways steve rebuilt the boat, and brought it back to life..{nice job stevie } i,ve been fishin w/ flaptail over 20 yrs.:smash: he knows his sh.t about fishin an how to catch fish .i go along for the ride ....so i think back @ some of the spots we,ve been fishin like the times we been around out front of momomoy is. or down to cuttys shore line castin plugs inside the rocks for big bass then, catchin albies and bones on flys an jigs or mabe b-harbor way up inside the rivers or on the east or west bar out front of the harbor...last yr we fished in the little harbor that a great white called home untill asked to leave,:whackin: or mabe when we at the grass flats of momomoy last yr with hundreds of bass swimmin around us all big ones..10 to 30 lbs all on poppers for 2 days...i could go on but u get it, some boats catch fish steve got one. i renamed the boat ""STILL FISHIN ""and i think the first owner is still watchin over her bringing us fish ....small boat= big fish:grins: by the way the first owner was a true gentleman name frank woolner:read: who was a local (worc)icon fisher-hunter-writer-outdoors guy .frank talked fishin -huntin in the 40s 50s 60s 70s so on to his death a few yrs ago. i think some of that fish sense an wisdom has rubbed off on flaptail ....its fish luck and fish love with steve......p.s dont tell him i said hes a good fisherman, his is big enough.....:smash:
Flaptail 06-24-2006, 07:29 AM Though I don't golf there is an old golfing saying that says" your only as good as the people you play with", you know what I am saying Dave.
I am pretty proud of that boat. Most people would not believe, contemplate going to the places, in the conditions we have. And most, if I may be permited tp boast a minute, would not beleive the fish we catch, sometimes even I am amazed. Stiffy is the best canal man I know of, period. He brought me back to the beach after my "Fly" thing of 11 years and he was right.
In my life I have fished with quite a few real Striper men. There are a lot of good ones but the in my eyes the three best I ever fished with were Dave Laporte, Dave Kosewski and Eric Lafleur. That's a pretty short list in all these years.
stiff tip 06-24-2006, 07:40 AM cut the shirt ...steve you know i is da best. lets get the tuna rigs ready,,i think i,m in heat , :r:you ready to mate?????
Slipknot 06-24-2006, 07:46 AM yep, pretty neat skiff you got there flap.
Remember, you 2 were right there when I followed you guys to a certain place and I hooked up with my very first striper caught on my homemade boat the "Jenna Rose", it was 30 pounds as I recall, not bad for a little 11' skiff. I'll never forget that day, thanks again :D
Your boat is very versitile and has everything you need to do the job you do. Someday I'll get one a little bigger too.
Is Dave praising the boat because it's going in a museum or sumpin? ;) I know alot of bass have come over the rails :btu:
Slipknot 06-24-2006, 07:47 AM stiiftip, don't forget the islands casting plugs sometime, those tuna will be here for quite a while.
