Seen a lot of sunrises in my days, but yesterday morning heading out of Scituate harbor, man what a spectacular sunrise. No words needed.
View Full Version : Scituate Harbor at it's finest. Gotta love those sunrises and sunsets. JohnR 08-31-2000, 07:19 AM Sweet!!! The hell with On The Water (OK, I do like their mag)... Send it here!!!! Beautiful shot!! Technical question. What kind of digital camera are you using? Waterproof? I'm thinking about a waterproof digital (I'm sure someone must make one), if relatively affordable. Thanks, John Got Stripers 08-31-2000, 09:51 AM John I'm using a Sony Mavica MVC-FD88, which is an idiot camera and takes great pictures. I also like the fact it uses a standard floppy, so I can carry several formated disks in the case and I have lots of storage capacity. It also is nice to just pop in the floppy and open up Paint Shop Pro to open and work with the pics. I paid around $700 a while back, but I've seen them on sale recently in some Staples for under $500. If you want the picture for the site, it's on my bragging board so just grab it off there or drop me an email and I'll get you a copy. Tight lines. Canalratt1 08-31-2000, 11:48 AM Damn you get some nice shots! By the way how was the fishing? I'm trying to convince my partner to go out of Scituate this Saturday. We have been going out of Sandwich but the fishing gods have not been the kindest to us lately.I haven't been out there in about three years but I have done well and we'll take a run offshore for cod. Got Stripers 08-31-2000, 12:39 PM Wednesday was the first time I've ever been skunked for stripers between Scitutate & Cohasset in over 10 years. It was the strangest day I've ever had, because I had only a couple follows and saw no fish over the ledges and reefs I fish. After the slow morning bite, we headed about 4 miles due east of the north river and picked up some cod. Later we ran into some blitzing blues just north of egypt beach. They didn't stay up long, but we caught a couple on poppers before they sounded and were gone. I did have my father in law with me and he hadn't fished the coast for 20 years, so I was primarily interested in getting him on some fish, so we did more cod fishing than striper fishing. If I had stayed with it, I'm sure I would have ended up with some fish, but that wasn't what he wanted to do. Good luck and tight lines. JohnR 08-31-2000, 04:01 PM GotS...we use those Sony Mavicas in work and yes, saving to a floppy is very convenient... Nice photo. I will pull it off your site and throw it up on this one, thanx. FYI - I work for a mid-sized process and facilities (hence the name) engineering firm in Boston, Process Facilities Inc. (300 people in Bos,Philly, and Sac). Was not sure if you are on our vendor list . If you are or become so in the future, say hello if you come by... Good that the fa-in-law got some fish - always helps to keep the in-laws happy... John Redmond Manager IT/IS Group Got Stripers 08-31-2000, 06:54 PM Is that the process side of Shooshanian Engineering out of Boston? Seems to me I've had some dealings with a few guys in your office over the last couple of years. Maybe it's just a similar name, there are tons of engineering firms in this area. Hope the fish get back on the bite for Saturday, I'm ready to get serious again, lol. I have to say thou, it was fun running into the blues. Those were the first blues I've caught in about 3-4 years and they were a lot of fun. Still, I'd rather tackle some big 40# plus stripers and I hope the cooling water gets them going. I've seen some small schools of mackeral around Minot's the last couple of weeks, so I hoping some more big bait moves in to draw in some numbers of larger fish. Tight lines. JohnR 09-01-2000, 07:53 AM No, we are a different company doing design, engineering, and construction management for bio, pharma, cgmp facilities. We have all of the disciplines in house; mech, arch, validation, elec, struc/civ in addition to the process engineering and piping groups. We do relatively small-medium (2-50mil)/fast track facilities work for major compaines... More importantly, the long weekend is here, meaning pack during the day and fish at night. Sleep broken down into intermittent catnaps standing up ... Going to be chasing some stripers off Cohassett this weekend myself... 'Luck, John Got+Stripers 09-01-2000, 11:19 AM I'll be out there tomorrow morning and probably Monday as well. Will you be fishing from boat or shore? Maybe we can hook up somewhere for a quick hello. I'll be the nut out there in the 17 foot basstracker tournament V-17, although you wouldn't know it by looking at it. I stripped it to a bare hull three years ago and built a center console. Look for me anywhere from Cowens north to shag and the inside ledges outside Cohasset harbor or let me know if you want to set a time and ledge to meet at. Tight lines and good luck this weekend. JohnR 09-01-2000, 12:01 PM I'll be plying the surf from Hull to Cohassett starting after sunset tonight 'til 1am or so and either beginning of nightfall or end of nights the reast of the weekend. One of those days may be spent fishing Rhody as well... Probably won't run into you as I'll be fishing when time allows...
