This may be a dumb question (s)

On the filter, where do you unscrew to drain the water?
I see there is a little nipple type thing on the bottom but have been unsucessful at turning that to drain anything.. The filter is kind of in an awkward spot so if you have never had one and you don't have the instruction sheet, it makes for a bit of a trying experience.

Also where do you replace the micron filter once it needs it? Or is it the whole unit? If so are there any special steps I need to take if its the whole thing?

Will the water/gas separation be so apparent that I will know right away that it needs to be drain or do I have to look very closely?

there's a threaded screw on the bottom of the bowl. loosen that and drain it into a clear jug/jar .

you replace the filter element in the middle.
it looks like an oil filter but it doesn't have a bottom. the bowl screws on the bottom..
water-gas separation will be very apparent if you let it sit for a minute in a clear jug. don't flip out if there's a little there,,,,,the filter is just doing it's job. now if the filter is full of water thats another story

When I am draining, I assume it will eventually stop... Do I have to worry about air getting into the line or anything like that?

Im guessing there is going to be some after about 30hrs of use given the location of the gas vent.

Was just at that site... couldnt find much on HOW TO's there.

no good news for the moonie boat...saw him out the other day on his buddies boat and asked where his was.... he said problems... BIG problems

i think bleeding ALL the air out is most important on a diesel.
i usually just put the filter on empty then squeeze the ball till it fills up. you can hear the gas going in the new filter.

maybe someone else knows a better way.

Well the only problem ive had was dealer related...not putting in two of the three drain plugs before handing it off to me.... but thats a story in and of itself. :uhoh: other than that, everytime im at the launch and see someone struggling to start up and I turn the key and go after 20 seconds I say to myself.... worth every penny :buds:

Sometimes the "nipple" thing needs a little upward pressure while turning to get it to catch. You said gas but if it's diesel make sure you swap out the filter with the appropriate one, pour clean disel in, and lube the rubber ring with some diesel. In your filter package there should be two new sets, one large and one small for the "T-handle" that should be used. Depending on your setup you can order the filters by color which is the appropriate "micron" filter for your application.
