Did anyone happen to see this monster leaving newport on Saturday???
Oh My God. I happened to be coming in from beavertail area with my sister and her boyfriend. I have seen a lot of boats in newport: amercas cup, tall ships, qeII, etc.... but this thing was for by far the craziest. Freakin nuts.... all i have for now is the link http://www.orange-sailing-team.com/en/
when my sister emails me the pics i will post them.

I was down working on Morning Glory while she was down there, got a tour. Thing is massive.
They just left to break the translantic record and smashed the 24 hour record into oblivion.
744.1 miles in 24 hours.
average of just over 30 knots sustained.

they're WAY ahead of Playstation's record.

Yes - the blow boat. :wavey:
There was also a guy who just came back from Bermuda. He had engine trouble and was sailing back and forth in front of the Ft - hailing oldport trying to get a tow in. He sounded a bit anxious....

Update: they damaged one of the two rudders, now got her backed off into the high 20's occasionally a 30.
Still ahead of the record though.

Yeah I saw her... she was just coming off the dock when I squeezed the tour boat out of our basin and off the dock...
quite a machine... too bad they towed her out a ways otherwise I could've seen her under sail....
