Schoolie Monster and I had some fun on some nicer bass this evening. I'm just loving my new 7 inch split tail and all my bass exploded on that puppy worked weightless on top. With the built in keel and the meat up front, you can walk the dog and pop it, man didn't that drive them crazy tonight. Only had one blue on the flat cut a bait in half, so they aren't in yet. Earlier we were nailing the smallest bass you'd ever want to see, Slip was with us at shell point and got his share of tweekies. I'm not sure you could even call these fish as some weren't even 10 inches long.

I know which pilings , I think. At one time you could fish those pilings from shore. All you neded to do was put your rod in a golf bag! :) Those pilings? :)

They kick everybody out from there... No Mas...

I'd like to get the old property plans of the Light from the town one day and find out precisely where the Public Access Points are (were) that originally were up there...

Had fun last night, although I was hoping to report that the "bluefish are in"... I'm ready to focus locally, but need to get a blitz or two before abandoning the cape. Walking and casting the edge of the flat was cool and we got some explosive hits. I wish we had another hour of light, 'cause those bass were much nicer.

Yah, those fish in Wareham were tiny. A couple of Slip's fish were like 7-8". Of course, I was going for large so I didn't get any of the real tiny ones... I was more interested in the 12-14" monsters... yah, whatever.

Anyway, I had a question about that on the drive home... we had a thread last year about local spawners and suspected areas.

My question is... are bass like salmon? What I mean is do they return to the same river in which they were born? or would they possibly join up with a school of migratory fish.

I just wondered with the continued pressures to the fish and habitat in the Hudson and Chesapeake, if nature is finding a way to protect itself by spreading out the spawning areas. I recently read an article about a resident, spawning population of bass up in one of the east coast Canadian rivers.

Or have these populations always been there?

Good idea John. I believe access is a far bigger threat to the sport than overfishing.

Clammer glad to see you had a great outing:happy: Jane and I whent to westport river last night with herring and some GS rubba. Had lots of short hits on the herring and lost one good fish to a mouring! I did get some small fish on the split tail but the fog came in so thick we had to quit early. Hope to hit it again today. GS Sat night looks real good?????? Also lots of sandworms? Could this be a worm hatch like Scottch talks about in the salt ponds??? The small fish were breaking all around s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g down the sandworms!!!

GB call me tomorrow morning if you can. I was going to call you, but forgot I recently lost all my email contacts, along with phone numbers etc. I'd like to make plans for the weekend, but I better run Sat night by my better half, so I'd like to know the details.
