thanks guys. i tested it out yesterday..pops like no other popper ive ever thrown. throws up a huge splash and loud pop :eek5:

i think i finally dialed in the shape and wieght combination i like..now i just need to get an airbrush so my finishes dont look like a preschooler made them. I guess i am hard on myself but when i see some of the stuff some yall make, its depressing when i see my finished work..lol

Nothing pre-schooler about that. Next time make 1/2 dozen and paint them all different. You'll find what you like. Nice job!

awwwweees%*&%! first ever striped bass on my own wood...
what feelin' :jump1:

up until this one, all my other plugs only fooled the nasty bloos..those devils hit anything

i was starting to get worried with this popper and lost confidence in it after a few skunky casts/sessions with it. Finally though... after the wind died around sunset I took off my kastmaster and threw on the chickenscratch pogie popper and got two schoolies that were in the 20-24" range...far from keepers but im happy..its like a plug building virginity thing to me..hahahah..im stoked..finally :) im gonna use this one alot more now..probably till i lose it..hopefully it gets me a keepah this year.
Moses..the next duplicate is yours

Hey, Good for you Moto!
make another one and hang on to that one before you lose it.
That's a great feeling to catch your first fish on your own wood plug :kewl:
make some more and do it again :uhuh:

:crying: :bc: :crying:

Lost it yesterday afternoon...worst part.....I had the biggest fish of my life on it :crying: after a 8-10min battle with the beast trying its hardest to rub off on the rocks...therefore it must have made a weak spot in my 14# test. After one last near loss to the rocks, i got the beast close to the rocks near my feet..Now stupid (inexperienced me) :af: tried to slip the fish up on the rocks using my rod...Learned two valuable lessons, here..no 3.... 1. Take slips advice, Make another one before you lose it. :( 2. Use the 50# flourocarbon leader material that is collecting dust at my house! :wall: 3. Never ever ever try to slip another cow up on a rock...should've just grabbed it by the F%^%^%^% GILLS. :hs:

The fish was easily over 40" (it looked OLD AND MEAN in its face and eyes) I'm guessing it was 30+ lbs..
Okay, im going to hang myself now...

:hang:

R.I.P. Chicken Scratch Pogie Popper :err:, actually im more upset about being an idiot and losing the fish..i know i can make another one of these from memory....gonna make a bunch next time.

Sorry ya lost the fish and the plug, but you'll be able to dupe it again as you turn it. It's in your memory and you'll know it as you run it on the lathe...:hihi:

Good you learned the lesson the hard way, like most of us, those are the only lessons we ever really remember. :)

on the great plug you made...

proved itself... ten fold...

just learn from your mistakes
and keep on whistlin...

print that photo out and frame it...

next time you land a biggun on a clone
place that photo next to it...
because it was the origional idea.
sorry you lost your big bass...

Chin up mate.U learned some valuable lessons here an ur well on ur way to being a better angler because of it.When I exclusively use poppers i use 80-100 lb test.Sounds like ur plug was a winner u have some pics get to work.good luck on the next beast.
