What are some good lures to use from shore for stripers/blues?

Good lure for trolling from the boat. This model is a deep diver and will not work well from shore unless your in 20 + depths.

Its a great one ofr Blues if your trolling...not so great on the bass.

Leave it home unless your on the boat!

Thats a good mackerel imitation and works real good when trolling for stripers in the 15-20 foot depths. It's a deep diving plug so be careful casting it from shore unless water is that deep. The faster you crank it the deeper it goes. :)

Yup, ditto on the trolling lure!

like stated above, any depth less that 15 feet or so and you'll be scraping bottom sand, kelp beds, rocks, etc...

A lip that long dives pretty deep and is not effective for most shore applications...

I've free spooled a similar lure out of the Charlestown Breechway and worked it in the current way out. Bumping the bottom is a good thing as long as you not getting hung up. If you fish the mouth of the Merrimack, cast it out in an out going current and leave the bail open til the lure gets out 30-40 yards then flip the bail and hold it in the current(don't reel). This lure will stay in the current right on the bottom, right where you want to be. This is the only application I can think of for this plug off land. Give it a try Plum! I say "good lure".

As Scotch suggested, it will definately get you to the strike zone, but it may only get you there once. Even fishing deep drop offs..this lure will dive until the very end...and the chance of losing it right infront of your feet is also great.

They are all right on target. Might be useful to use the lure to hold a position against a tide or a rip. Deep diver might pick up a few deep bass.

That, I think, is a Floating Plug, which when dragged through the water will dive deep.
Cast it out, let it float with a twitch now and then and when you begin to retrieve it you may want to bring it in steady at first till it gets really deep and then just pause and give it just a bit of slack so it will sit in the current and wiggle, but because of it's bouancy it will wiggle and rise in the water colunm. You may need to feed it a little slack to get it to rise, dependent on current conditions.
Practice with it during daylight and you can hopefully get good with bringing it deep and getting it to swim up to the surface and then reel it down again and then let it rise.
You can cover a tremendous amount of water area if you can control it so it dives and then comes back up.
Good Luck, and be ready for the strike as it begins to rise up from the depths.

Yes - it works pretty much like everyone has stated. With some finness, you may be able to get it to work properly from shore but it may not be worth the trouble. There are certainly better plugs to consider to have the same effect.
