View Full Version : When Might They Stop Beating The Dead Horse?
BigFish 08-01-2006, 03:25 PM This Mel Gibson DUI thing.....enough already for crissake!!! The guy made a mistake and while drunk said some stupid things.....ever hear anyone say anything intelligent when 3 sheets to the wind? Man will the media ever let him live it down?:rollem:
Swimmer 08-01-2006, 03:29 PM Ya, like him being drunk is special. What about me. I think thier discriminating against. :gu: I have plenty of good stuff to be quoted about after imbibing.........:bl:
BigFish 08-01-2006, 03:31 PM Lets go have a few Frank...sounds like fun!:jump:
spence 08-01-2006, 03:33 PM It's a pretty big deal when you think about it.
One of Hollywood's biggest stars who's father was (allegedly) a serious anti-semite, gives the industry the finger and alone makes one biggest moves ever (about Jesus no less) which critics again allege has anti-semitic undertones.
Remember, the film industry is dominated by Jews...right?
Said Gibson denies all cries of anti-semitisim, then goes on a drunken anti-semitic tirade when arrested by a Jewish police officer.
It's the kind of story you just can't make up, that's why it's being pounded into sand :)

Skitterpop 08-02-2006, 08:58 PM Mel Gibson / Mideast Crisis
Global Environment / Mel Gibson
USA / Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson / Planet Earth
Big Dig / Mel Gibson
I`m so confused :jester:
kevin d 08-03-2006, 05:57 AM I like Mel Gibson but this whole thing is typical of the press. They have been up Mel's butt for years, building him up to be above everybody else. Then he finally does something wrong and the press crucifies him.
As far as booze being a truth serum, there is some truth in that. But then there is the morning where you wake up and look over and find something horrible sleeping next to you........
Now you know that if you were sober you wouldn't have given this 300 lb creature a chance. So is alcohol just letting you screw up or do you really like fat chicks? What is the truth here? :)

Yep, it's all the fault of the Press :sleeps:

What do Mopeds and Fat Chicks have in common?
They are both a lot of fun until someone sees you with one...
face it.....you secretly like those BBW's :hihi:
Slick Moedee 08-03-2006, 08:09 AM Until some one sees you riding one, I think the punch line is riding one.
kevin d 08-03-2006, 10:44 AM Sorry Spence. Not the fault of the press, never said it was. I just love the way they do business.

The Press doesn't build someone up unless they want to be built up.
Certainly you're not saying that Gibson didn't want the exposure?
Besides, he made a contraversial 600 million dollar movie...and the Press had little to do with it!
Sorry, but saying this is typical of the press is a cop out in my opinion.

kevin d 08-03-2006, 10:55 AM A cop out? By who?
spence 08-03-2006, 11:02 AM By your statement...unless I'm not reading it correctly.
Gibson's stardom is largely a result of his own risk taking and success, while this black eye is a result of his own alchololisim and what clearly appears to be underlying bias.
To say this is typical behavior of the Press doesn't really due justice to the fact that it's Gibson's rise and fall...not some manipulation or unfair presentation.

I still don't understand who copped out?
I never said there was any manipulation or unfair representation. The post is about the press milking it for all its worth, beating a dead horse. I guess we just see this differently.>
spence 08-03-2006, 11:45 AM Are they really milking it, or just reporting a story as it unfolds?
Beating a dead horse (to me at least) means the coverage is excessive...but given the much deeper issues at play here (celeb excess, anti-semitisim, drug addiction) it would seem like the story has got some legs.

stormfish 08-04-2006, 12:05 AM The press will continue to build this up to distract citizens from other problems around the world. Anytime now there should be a missing white girl/woman.
Skitterpop 08-04-2006, 07:51 PM Scuze me....iiiii wouhhhld luk ta say suminnn ahbouht dis
spence 08-04-2006, 08:09 PM I think Mel's anti-semetic undertones are pretty ugly...
But the fact that he's drunk doing 40+ over the limit is downright scary.
Should be a lesson to us all...

Striperknight 08-05-2006, 10:32 AM They love when a rich movie hero type falls.
