So my buddy wants to go out the cut in Chatham yesterday being it was so calm and he wanted to take his 17" Carolina. Cool, no problem. We're out a couple hundred yards out doing some trolling and this putz captaining the Perry's Pride II purposefully cuts off our 3 lines. This was no accident. He had to speed up and change course to get within 25' of us which was close enough to slice all 3 lines. I'm out $90 of gear. I saw him watching us in the wheelhouse. And smiling. It's not like he didn't know we were there. Like the general said, I saw the whites of his eyes. I wish I was still fishing in Florida where we kept a 12 gauge on board. :rocketem: :nailem: That f-in bass turd. I hope he suffers a slow and most painful demise when his turn comes. There is no excuse for that b.s We were lucky he didn't swamp us.

Sorry for the rant.

We did race around after he got abot 100 feet of wire off each reel to find out what his problem was. He did get an offer to meet him at the Squire that he accepted and never showed up. Real tough too from another boat. Too bad he's just another little wussy punk.

Report him to the Coast guard for recless operation. If you can prove it, maybe he'll lose is charter certificate. Hit him where it hurts, in the wallet....:humpty:
Oh ya, and be sure to tell the CG how afraid of swamping you were so that they actually have to look into it. I'm sure he'd love to take that call.

Perry's Pride... Let see, I believe that is owned by the same fleet owners who own's Lori B, Miss Fitz and a couple other boats. It was a gill-netter right? Are you sure you didn't do anything to deserve it? Were you out in the fog?

I'm not trying to pick a fight at all. Trust me, it could have been just a jerk move by one of the deck hands who was on watch but as someone who spent a couple years working the back of a gill-netter out of chatham, we had our share of yahoos cruising through the fog, not yielding to us when it was our right of way and generally putting our safty at risk by not boating responsibly. One incident I remember quite well was a 28' Whaler going about 30kts in pea soup fog headed straight for us in the fog and our captain (ex-coast guard) saw them on the radar and through some evasive manuvering was able to avoid an accedent by about 10'. They didn't even slow down. They just cruised by with open mouths and wide eyes right in the cut!!!

I'm not accusing you of anything but I know the boat and just don't see why they would risk fouling a $1,300 bronze prop just to cut your wire. Are you sure they knew they did it?? Were you right in the mouth of the cut? I know that it is VERY tricky for those boats to get in and out of there and if you had wire behind you right there they might not of had a choice? What tide was it.

Sluggoslinger,

No offense taken what-so-ever. I've seen plenty of idiots pullin stupid stuff like that too. No fog, 500yds off the cut and 100yds south. I know where not to be.

taJohn,
I am talking to a friend of min who is a retired commander of the Coast Guard about exactly how to do this the best way to make the...most waves :laughs: for him.

Soon enough that pr!ck is going to his. But the legal way. Trust me, I have a hole saw attachment and enough other great ideas that would end him up in a world of nastyness. But its still not worth it to to have to look over my shoulder for the "authorities". And after I posted it here, it forced me to do it the right way. I remember what the idiot looked like though and I am sure I will have to spend a lot more time at the Squire doing some...:gu: recon work.
