Got Stripers

Even though I fished late with GB last night, I just couldn't resist skipping down to the cape tonight, it was just too sweat. Around 5 pm I just couldn't stand it anymore and through my stuff in the truck for a blast to the cape. When I got there there were birds working everywhere and two guys on the beach in front of me were hooked up. I waded out on the flat and had it all to myself, well almost, because there were blues everywhere. I only wish I'd brought some more terminal tackle :(, lost two of those beautiful Habs poppers, plus a Gibbs pencil and my chug bug. Those titanium leaders worked great last year, but I won't buy another in 30# test, the damn snaps must have been breaking at 10#'s.
Still, I switched over to my plastic after about 12 blues and 5 lost ones and continued, until I was plain out of 30# seagar and plastic. What a riot, I didn't even bother re-rigging new plastic and just fished the heads of ripped baits and skipped them over the surface and they loved it. I was cracking up as blues almost jumped into my waders trying to get it. I finally left the flat around 8:30, tired and flat out of gear to fish.
I guess a trip to Wally World is in order to get some stronger leaders. JW, I was wishing you guys were there beside me, flat calm and blues working everywhere. I hope the cooler weather coming in doesn't pull them out again.
