Want to trailer to Harwich and fish East of Chatam...
How far south of Monomoy do I need to Run?
Is Carb Ledge 7 Miles East of the BC or Inside of it (West of BE)?
THanks...

To run east of chatham you will need to go out of ryder's or stage harbor/oyster river. Crab ledge is west of the BC and the lanes. The ledge is vauge, but you will see the fleet.

How far east of Chatham is it? Is there a place to leave a trailor at Stage or Ryders? Do you have a preference?
Going to try and go out Friday if anyone is going to be out there.

Yes you can park a trailor. ryders you don't want come through at low tide. The inlet is nasty, but stage harbor you have to go around monomoy. 12 miles due east of the chatham inlet will put you into postion with the fleet. It is a little longer from monomoy.
hey mtc. I took my son to crab ledge yesterday for the first time. The previous night while scouting the channel out from ryders cove we got stuck in the sand and it took us til 2 am to get back to the dock. Some engine trouble but mainly the channel. In daylight it is much easier and following a local boat is the key. Higher tides also help. We went based on the fishing freaks info from last weekend and it was great. We caught 3 bft between 42-46 inches. First time for us with 7 poles out trolling. First time at crab ledge. water was dead calm. Next time I'm sure we will do better now that we worked all the bugs out.

I did Ryder's for the first time a couple weeks ago. My advice:
1) Get there early, no later than 4:30 AM if a weekend. There are only a few non-resident spaces for trailers or cars and they fill up fast.
2) Follow someone out. The channel is long, windy, and VERY shallow in places. I have the G chio for that area and no navigational buoys showed on my GPS. Avoid going out at low tide. be very careful where the harbor meets the ocean, there are nasty shoals.
The bite lately has been early. Good luck!

Ryders is a great spot, But like said parkinmg and the cut can mean trouble!!
They have Hy bouys that will not be on any GPS as they change at least once a year!!
Watch for a boat that knows what they are doing!! They will be the one flying out right pass you.
If you have never been there, and have no GPS or even have a GPS, and it is fog, stay home!!!!
I go out of there in the thickest fog with the GPS as I go on a good day and mark the channel, But that said, is still wigs me out when you can't even see your bow!

I will be out east every morning till monday or tuesday (I hope) if you want to follow me out. I will tell you if you don't know your way, at 430 in the morning you will have trouble. It is still dark, and you have some nice weirs on one side, and a bar on the other.
